I laughed at that one myself. How is Dowling a certain starter FFS?

Heā€™s been average at best for 3 years now and isnā€™t even playing that well for a totally club team in nap.

Yes. Casey started last year and performed well. He is excellent and in possession of the jersey, expect him to start again. Dowling one of our better players and better performers over the last few years. Thatā€™s a fact whether you want to scoff at it or not. David Dempsey is a brilliant hurler and will start in future, not a cert this year for me considering competition at half forward, he could well force his way in though.

You said earlier was a cert to start. There is very good options in the corner and nobody is nailed on. Dowling has been nothing short of atrocious the last three seasons for limerick. Heā€™s slow and one sided and has appeared to lose his knack for goals. With gillane and ronan lynch both very good free taking options dowling will be under massive pressure to keep his place. As for William o o d. A likeable player with a good bit about him but I think is heavy weather club hurling really suits him. I wouldnā€™t mind seeing him at 11 but think thereā€™s a good few ahead of him at midfield.

Two reasons . Frees and nothing demonstrably better .

Canā€™t really take any of your criticism about Dowling seriously given your support of Hannon in recent years. Now youā€™re advocating Lynch? Sure weā€™ll see with the rest.

Hannon was probbaly our best player last year you dimwit

Dowling will be thereabouts. Will Oā€™Donoghue is a work in progress and would have been a fair asset in Nowlan Park last summer. Heā€™ll only get better and will be close to a starting role as I think our options in midfield are far more limited than some think.
Ronan Lynch isnā€™t within an asses roar of senior inter-county at the moment.

If you look at the midfield options over the past couple of years things arenā€™t great . James Ryanā€™s best days are behind him , the 2 doon lads have not stepped up yet , Paul Browne has struggled .

It is time.

Dowling needs to go midfield, heā€™ll flourish in the wide open spaces.

I said recent years. Last year aside. Stop making a fool of yourself.

He did OK . He wasnā€™t really tested TBH . Both teams Lk played dropped forwards deep .

They should tie a snackbox on a string and attach it to his helmet, heā€™ll run all day out there

Very harsh mate, its just a bit of padding for the winter, heā€™ll be bouncing come the Spring. Imagine the untold damage he could do in the wide open spaces of midfield, where he could really open his legs and show his class.

Be interesting to see how Gillane gets on against the better teams in the League. No denying he was better than the likes of Nash & Morrissey for the 21s, and is excellent at club level.

Yeā€™ve got no imagination lads, Byrnes has all the attributes to be an excellent midfielder. Heā€™s a very talented player and would be well able for it. Thereā€™s at least two elements to his game that hold him back from being a top wing-back.

Iā€™m a firm firm believer that the half-back line should be set up to feed your inside forwards quality ball.

He played midfield in fitzgibbon didnā€™t he?

Set up your half back line to deliver ball eh? Byrnes hickey and condon it is.

If you think diarmuid Byrnes can play midfield at intercounty level I feel sorry for you ffs. Heā€™d have both hamstrings torn before April.
