Limerick GAA - it's Box Office - Always Has Been, Always Will Be

26 Iā€™d guess.

Ya . Big year for him next year if he stays fit we have a proper player .

Based on what

He was excellent in a couple of games around 2011, so heā€™s due.

Still think that Limerick need him to go well if we are to make any inroads . Granted he has had a few iffy years but always seems to pick up niggly injuries. Fabulous club hurler .

To be honest over the last 3 years there is little or no form for any Linerick senior hurler .

Barry had a great year with the club this year, probably his most consistently excellent season Iā€™ve seen him have.

He is definitely better than some others there.

He was good for Kildimo ok this year but I assume Kiely doesnā€™t see him at the level . He is better than at least 5 of the squad named .

Heā€™s back looking sharp again.
Heā€™ll keep one of the best Ballybunner backā€™s fully occupied Sunday, even if he never hits a ball.

He was looking sharp in the Crescent today with a lovely tweedy suit,
Downes has a lot on his shoulders, still a massive player if Limerick are to make the breakthrough, his recent club form suggests heā€™s not far away

Good to see Downes back on the panel I think his role if he goes well will be off the bench for Limerickā€¦similar to 2013.

Has a lot of talent but has been crippled with injuries and loss of form for the last 3 years. Fuck it, if I had my way Id have Kiely fucked offā€¦heā€™s not upto itā€¦unless he gets a few more fellas in with him.

Is Oā€™Connor worthy of another year in S&C?

Youā€™ve been beating this drum for a while. On what basis is he bad?

Kiely, O 'Connor or both?

Either, both.

Oā€™Connor is there 3 years and in that time frame weā€™ve gone backwards in comparison to Tipp/Galway & Waterford. Not to mention the sizeable guts on a couple of lads. That in itself should see him gone first of all.

Kiely shouldnā€™t have got the job in the first place, this yearā€™s results on the field reflect that, losing every meaningful game bar a league QF to Cork. No progress was made this year and the results were arguably worse than TJs in 15/16.

Bar blooding players and putting Dec Hannon to 6 which worked to some extent, I think itā€™s been savagely dissapointing under Kiely. I wasnā€™t expecting silverware. .but some semblance of a planā€¦tactics wouldā€™ve been somethingā€¦neither were there.

Blooding players was very important. He couldnā€™t do a Dave Keane on it and clear out half a panel, and in the context of where Limerick were starting from, he did just about enough, in my opinion. At times he was down a few players Iā€™d hoped would make a big impact: English, Oā€™Donoghue, Malachy, Finn and Hannon.

The coming year will tell a lot.

The fitness and general ability to horse lads out of the way was lacking and has been lacking for a while now - is that solely down to Oā€™Connor? If it is then we should turn on him pronto.

How is Oā€™Connor to blame for the fact that the players on the limerick panel have gotten younger, and are there for lighter? What sizeable guts are you on about?

I was disappointed we werenā€™t a bit better this year but Kiely has pretty much built a new team already and I wouldnā€™t have expected much more from us than what we achieved. You must forget where we were the year before. I will reserve judgement until next year.

I think a fair comparison this year is to Wexford pal, they achieved promotion to 1A and were far more competitive in the championship with a new management team as well.

We hammered them in 2014 in the senior quarter final and have better underage players coming through. How do you explain that anomaly?

Itā€™s the third senior intercounty team Fitz has managed FFS.

And whats your point exactly?

Are you saying Limerick should except failure because the CB chose a novice manager with no experience?

Iā€™m saying that Kiely was the best qualified in the county, that he improved on the year before while overhauling the team quite a bit. He didnt do brilliant but results werenā€™t far below expectations given the talent available and where the team was at. A balanced assessment would be that he deserves another year.

You think Clare should fire their management?

Also, youā€™re an idiot if you think only someone who has previously managed at intercounty level should get a job. Kiely had very strong experience.
