Another year would be fine with a club, but inter county hurling is a very young manâs game. Weâve two decent hurlers in Tobin/OâBrian gone at 27 along with Gavin at 30.
Talk in Limerick of waiting another 2 years etc is foolishâŚI wouldnât mind so much but weâre in division 1B since 2011 ffs.
If you read the post properly, youâd get that I referenced those 3 lads as examples of wasting another year on a spoof management ticket which is perilous.
It wonât be long before our talented group of 21s from 15 and 17 are in their mid 20s and the same bullshit is happening.
The pattern with Davy has been largely the same every county he has managed, an immediate enough impact before reaching great heights and then ultimately crashing and the whole arse falling out of everything. His impact has been even more immediate with Wexford in a shorter time frame because the group of players in general is older than what he had in Clare starting out.
I expect them to go well this year again before ultimately crashing and burning and being back to square one with half their players crippled. The demands on the players are simply unsustainable. They have a very short time frame to win something.
Limerick have the makings of a nice side that will only really reach their optimum in about 2 or 3 years time, very young panel there now.
Fwiw I canât see Condon staying on the panel. Canât see him starting ahead of Finn, Casey, English or Richie Mac so I can see him calling it a day at the end of the league
Why are fellas crying about these guys like they were all-stars or something? By all means thanks lads for the service over the years but in my opinion we have a lot better options on the panel than them. They all got many shots at it and we havenât come within an asses roar of challenging for an All Ireland in their time. Itâs a young manâs game now and those lads were getting up there. Personally i donât feel they have been wronged. Condon i think will retire from county panel very soon.
Regarding Kiely, he absolutely deserved his shot at the job and he deserves another year at it. If the coming year is a disaster then fair enough but letâs see if he can make real progress now. He inherited a team in the throes of a huge changing of the guard. What do you expect? Instant results? For us to be challenging in his first year where he is blooding all these new players? He was also unlucky last year with some good players getting injured at inconvenient times, and Byrnes missed the whole year which was a big deal considering he was our best player the year before.
Just relax and let them get on with it without shouting for a new man and/or yearning for retired players to come back.
Was that the final? Dromid must be gone back a good bit, the Clare reps put it up to them for a long time with 14 men and their two best forwards gone back abroad
