He always struck me as a hot and cold type player, wasnāt he dropped and on the line for large parts of the last few years? A corner back like Noel Connors, Cathal Barrett or John Hanbury would eat him for breakfast
Brilliant club hurler in fairness and has showed up on the big days for Na Piarsaigh but anyone who has the toe of the hurley turned in when rising the ball wonāt be getting on my Limerick team Iām afraid !
True enough on his style but I think he is better than a few named on the panel .
The spread Na Piarsaigh have in the forwards is incredible. If all were available you could have a front six of:
Shane Dowling, David Breen, David Dempsey
Adrian Breen, Kevin Downes, Peter Casey
All of these guys have played senior intercounty for Limerick. No truly exceptional talents, but all are capable of really hurting you, especially at club level. Itās often levelled at NaP during games that the big guns havenāt showed up, but in my experience at least one of them will always come to the fore.
Would agree as regards Tobin also. Seen him a few times this year and he was the standout player on the field everytime, playing on a much weaker Murroe team also.
He is a fabulous player but always seemed to lack a yard at IC level .
Probably a fair assessment. However itās not beyond possibilities he could improve to intercounty standard a little later than some others, heās in the best form heās ever been this season.
Heās ic standard now. Ye limerick lads expect so much so quickly.
44 years we are expecting
45 years minimum for Sept 2018.
What age is Adrian Breen lads, 26??
I think heās 25.
New format agreed at this eveningās Limerick County Board meeting for the 2018 Senior Hurling Championship. Two Groups of six
Group 1 Adare Ballybrown, Doon, Kilmallock Na Piarsaigh, Patrickswell
Group 2 Ahane, Cappamore, Knockainey, Monaleen, Murroe-Boher, South Liberties
The top two teams in Group 1 will qualify for the semi finals with teams three and four into quarter finals against the top two teams in Group 2.
There will be promotion/ relegation between the groups ā the bottom team in Group 1 will automatically be relegated to Group 2, with the top team in that group elevated to the Super Six.
The bottom team in Group 2 will be automatically relegated to the Premier IHC with the Limerick Premier IHC winners promoted to Group 2.
The new format is in place for a three year term.
I donāt think Iām in favour
Wouldnāt they be as well off making senior 8 teams. Some very average teams.
Sounds like we now have Senior, Super Premier Intermediate, Premier Intermediate and Intermediate.
Wouldnāt be in favour of that restructure tbh.
Thats better. Will be less hidings.
They play a very similar championship in Roscommon football but itās slightly better.
Top 2 in division 1 into semi
Middle 2 in division 1 in quarter
Top 2 in division 2 join them in quarters
Bottom 2 in division 1 in relegation playoff
Bottom 2 in division 2 in relegation to intermediate
Heās 27/28 mate.
Those groups are very lopsided are they?
No way heās that old, he was still U21 in 2013.
