Ah yeah we were there last year for the championship game. If I do get the train Iāll prob call in there for one
If you havenāt been to Mickey Bowes you havenāt been to Thurles.
ā¦have not been to thurles for a visit to tom sempleās field.
A number of question marks around that team.
The bigggest one would be that half forward line. I dont think Hayes is a centre forward. Certainly didnt look comfortable v Clare until he dropped deeper. A big fan of Hegarty but wpuld love to see him in the half back line. Tom Morrissey has done more than the three you have oicked at 14.
Still have Pat Ryan Colin Ryan, Barry Nash and Barry Murphy who could be there or there abouts in the forwards
2 Morriseys coming in for a lot of stick on this.
Tom is definitely under some instructions as regards working back to help the backs i think. His work rate is immense anyway, his shooting has been poor alright at the best of times. Get the feeling heās a Kiely favorite though.
Dan - I canāt see Kiely change half back line now, itās been the same all year.
Quaid
Finn
Richie/M Casey
English
Byrnes
Hannon
Hayes
OāDonovan
Lynch
Heggo
Dempsey
Morrisey
Gillane
Flanagan/Dowling
Casey
Would really like Hayes in the HB line I think as long as we have Hickey and Morrisey in the backs they will be heavily targeted but they would provide great depth to the bench.
At the moment lads are preferring Byrnes to Dan Morrissey on past form rather than current form. Ditto Tom, heās been going well enough putting in decent shifts. But itās not hugely convincing itāll be good enough come summer for either of them. If both of them stepped up another gear and owned their positions theyād be big additions, theyāre big units that try to do the right thing with the ball.
Id have concerns about half back though. Hickey needs to shift out there and Iād consider Hayes or English too.
Yeah fair enough thereās arguments for & against for both of them.
I think lads are still harping on about Byrnes scoring those 3 points against Clare a few years back and this late goal the other day is another mask on his overall performances.
Byrnes played well versus Clare and had a fine second half v Galway .
Dan morrissey one of the fittest players on the squad, a favourite of almsot every selector/manger, no interviews to the leader, gets on with his job with no fuss. Yet almost every liemrick fan wants him dropped. Under John kiely heās the first name on the team sheet.
He struggled badly with Bobby duggan last week - that is what counts.
He has done well enough to be fair this year and last year . He was left utterly exposed at 3 v Tipp in 2016 and I felt sorry for the lad . Again he will be under the spotlight next weekend .
Bobby ??
My bad. Peter
He struggled a bit in the air versus a monster on form . I was always a skeptical about TM based on club games but he has been decent this year .
This is trueā¦but a league quarter final is where you want him learning these lessons.
Both Morrisseys get through a lot of work and just need some coaching with final ball/decision makingā¦Both have plenty to offer but it may not always be as startersā¦but theyāll certainly start next weekend.
Iām almost certain Dan will start. I think heās played very well. Duggan caught a few balls over him alright but I thought he recovered well enough to be honest. There is no indication that he will be dropped or that Hayes/Hegarty/Malachy will be moving back as much as people would like to see that. Pretty much nobody else has been tried there. Unless he fancies one of the NaP lads there, but thatās probably the line where they donāt bring a real option.
Tom has been very good too but there is serious competition for that position.
Fair enough he did and those 3 balls in the air he won doesnāt look good but Duggan is in the form of his life and heās an animal in the air. Morrissey wonāt face many like him all year.
Danās use of the ball is excellent, almost always gives the ball to a player in a better position.
At last lots of people are recognizing the improvement in Dan Morrisey this yearā¦
