IMO Reidy doesnât have it at this level. Good man to take a score in space but missing the required speed of thought for inter county.
Thereâs only so many slots there, Iâd be absolutely flabbergasted if Downes wasnât in the match squads, I think heâll put in a shift on the wing, maybe not for day 1 but as the summer goes on, no way theyâll go without him altogether
Kiely brought him back from the abyss, showed a lot of faith in him and heâs done well. I wouldnât be surprised if a few of the nap lads didnât rejoin the panel. Its unfair how long theyâve been on the go, dealing with losing and then facing back into club championship. I doubt many of them will have much interest in being subs or just panel numbers which is fair enough.
Reidy is honest as the day is long but heâs not up to the highest level, alot of lads are going to be cut and we will be shocked by a few of them.
Pat Ryan is probably taken over Downes role as the impact sub.
There isnât going to be many cut at all.
I would pass on Na P players for Saturday
Itâs a hard one re the NaP lads. For instance and I am open to correction I think Adrian Breen is part of the panel. Grand man to tap over scores at club level but doesnât have what it takes it for IC.
Match day panel is maximum 26 we have how many on the panel now 40 odd?
I donât think Pat Ryan will survive the cull, I just canât believe that Kiely is going to ignore a fit Downes
Tell you one thing getting that panel down to 26 is going to annoy alot of lads here, these are the ones most likely to lose out from the original panel.
Alan Dempsey
Ronan Lynch
William OâDonoghue
Thomas Grimes
Conor Boylan
Graeme Mulcahy
Paddy OâLoughlin
Oisin OâReilly
Daragh Fanning
Tom Condon
Andrew La Touche Cosgrave
David Reidy
Barry OâConnell
Cian Hedderman
Willie OâMeara
Lorcan Lyons
Pat ryan is 100 percent nailed on to be coming on as a sub.
Weâll be carrying about 33 and 3 of those havenât been on the panel for a month.
Casey took a point from 15 yards out against Cuala.
Hes a great lad but surely he should be burrying them into the corner of the net??
It would be foolish to leave out downes. Heâs only really come back towards form in the last few games and I think he has a bit to go yet, as in he will improve more with more hurling. The long season shouldnât affect him as much as others as he was only coming back from injury late last summer and heâll be mad to be involved in the county team, some of the other na p lads are held together by tape. Iâd be disappointed if we donât see him come in at some stage.
26 for match day.
That doesnât mean there not on the panel.
Extended panel,we are on about the match day panel of 26 the hard calls are made then.
I made the point a while ago about the two a penny hurlers, Limerick has a glut of decent forwards, close to but not quite at the level of top inter county players, Downes could be a game changer, I donât think Simon or many others can do that in the heat of championship hurling, same goes for Dowling, itâd be foolish to plan without them
It was the correct call at the time.
