For fuck sakeā€¦ What is Willie Oā€™Meara doing on the Senior Panel if he canā€™t start on the U21 team? Would have thought heā€™d be good enough to make his place on that starting 15, but if he isnā€™t then his place on the senior panel comes into question big time

Yup and Dempsey sitting at home.

I would consider it a big shock that heā€™s not starting. In my view, heā€™s definitely better than some of those there, heā€™s a very good hurler.

He did have an injury, maybe his fitness isnā€™t up to starting yet?

Thatā€™s a good forward line.

And what was the shite about Dylan Oā€™Shea training with the Seniors and he not even named on the subsā€¦obviously no truth in that. That bench should have a few better players than whatā€™s there on it too like Oā€™Shea and Tobin of Garryspillane

Iā€™m surprised by that unless heā€™s picked up a knock. I heard from a neutral source he was one of the stand outs in a senior vs 21s friendly

Think heā€™s not involved because of the Leaving Cert.

Tobinā€™s a nice player, and again I rate him, but wasnā€™t even starting for Garryspillane the last two weeks.

And he 100% played in a training match for the seniors; whether heā€™s on the panel or was just invited along a couple of times, I do not know.

I saw him play a club game recently. His fitness is fine. In that game he started like a train before flitting in and out of the game. At junior a level and being on the country senior team he should have dominated the game. He didnā€™t and his side were beaten for a finish after being ahead for most of the game

So you were one of the ten lads in the stand in Glantine

Not quite, I stayed closer to the gate for a fast exit. I was spying, as is my natureā€¦

Donnelly didnā€™t start Oā€™Loughlin & Flanagan last year who will both play senior Championship hurling this year. Maybe he just looks for something different.

In my view, Grimes at midfield over Mackey and Oā€™Meara wing-back would be a stronger lineup. But the manager obviously thinks otherwise.

As for not dominating for Askeaton, again wouldnā€™t read a huge pile into that. People always expect players around the County to dominate, especially at Junior A level but some players are just not like that, they will rarely dominate but will play well around better players, and also faciliate them to play better.

You could be right. Oā€™Meara has ridiculous gears, his acceleration is unreal. Surprised heā€™s not starting is all.

I think a recent challenge game where he was played at midfield didnā€™t go great for him, so that might be the reason

Fucking anti Askeaton bias is all this is.

Iā€™m shocked tbh; I really rate him.

Look, heā€™s a good fella to have off the bench anyway. Thatā€™s a strong team on paper, Iā€™d think theyā€™d win.

Really like the look of that full forward line but a bit so-so about almost every other line on that team.

The Askeaton man on one leg is better than some of those lads starting.

I would say the full-back line is the one Iā€™d question most. Adams is a good player, but I wouldnā€™t say heā€™s a natural full-back. Thereā€™s none in the panel and heā€™s probably the man to do a job. Flynn & McPartland are both starting corner-backs at senior level, so at least theyā€™re playing the position. At county level, a lot of the time you have players who arenā€™t naturals in the position.

Half-back line looks good. 2 of last yearā€™s three, and Minihan is a good tough player.

Midfield potential question marks; I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever seen Mackey play there but Iā€™ve never been totally convinced by him. Surprised itā€™s not Grimes there and Oā€™Meara in at half-back.

Forwards look lively; Boylan will win ball and run at them. And the pace in that forward line. Yellow helmets galore and plenty of scoring potential.

He did well last year, best heā€™s played since 2014. Not as convincing so far this year. Surely will be starting at 6 barring injury.

Itā€™s a cracking set of forwards.

The yellow helmets are deadly at picking off scores in fairness. :grinning:
