Limerick GAA - it's Box Office - Always Has Been, Always Will Be

Lucey, Riordan, Cahill, Cahill, Cregan, Flynn?

Correct!

Three quick Croom points.

1-12 to 0-09.

Lawlor not playing?

Hasnā€™t been all year.

1-16 to 0-12, few mins left.

FT.

1-19 to 0-12.

Pleased to report one of my drinking buddies from Poznan and Gdansk at Euro 2012 was one of the nights better performers.

Condon apparently has a broken hand.

Huge win for Croom. Horrible night for Condon to be missing for Knockaderry.

Presumably, heā€™ll be back for Claughaun/Old Christians, but Iā€™d fancy the townies there. Maybe if Knockaderry are really desperate.

Fair play to Croom though, things have not gone their way the past couple of years. It must be tough for lads their age to keep togging out week after week at this level when theyā€™re used to so much better.

You can stick a fork in west Limerick hurling, as opposed to other parts of the county. Itā€™s done.

Need to get back to focusing on our roots - Gaelic football.

The game is on its death bed in the west . Really in dire straits . It needs a plan or it will die . Things are that serious . The plan needs more than the GAA as rural depopulation a huge problem .

Five Limerick teams competing in the Harty cup and the closest to West Limerick is probably Ard Scoil Ris . The way the amalgamated West Limerick team was allowed die was disapointing

Are the amalgamated teams now gone ? To be honest that is window dressing . The real initial work has to be done at club level .

Yes they are gone .
The schools are as important. The school has the kids 5 days a week. A good teacher can do an awful lot of good.

If the work isnā€™t done by U-12 level, itā€™s probably too late really.

Depopulation is a real killer, because there are a few clubs out there doing decent work. Feohanagh/Castlemahon, for example- a couple of good underage teams and they got themselves promoted two divisions.

The only way to deal with these issues is to get people playing the game at a young age. U-6s, U-8s, etc. And to get them (and their parents) involved with the club. GAA club should be the focal point of the community.

In 1980 Limerick reached an all Ireland final and there were 2 Killeedy men and 2 Feoghanagh men on starting team . Seamus Sullivan from Tour was sub goalie and Connie Keeffe from Ballingarry was a sub also .

Killeedy won the SHC that year and Tour reached the 1979 final .

Back then Kantoher and Castlemahon were booming . Ditto Shannon meats ,

Agreed but Iā€™d prefer if the work was done at primary school level . If the foundation is done the rest will follow .

ASR have done great over the last decade but the spade work was done at Na P and JFK & CTK primary schools .

Thatā€™s a great post and very sad. To see great clubs like tour, kileedy, granagh and croom so low is terrrible. Youā€™ve the leader banging on about harty cups etc and they havenā€™t a clue how the game is dying out. Ditto the county board. Adare hurling is all but done too for the next fifteen years.

Adare won the last trophy given out for senior hurling in Limerick

Only the league

NaP won that league a few years back and thereā€™s lads there will tell you it was a huge win for them, look at them now.

This week ahane u 16 gave a walkover . Our most successful club . A read of the underage results highlights walkovers and mergers that are hard to keep track of .
