I was back in Bruff for Pallasgreen vs Bruree. It was a very exciting game, a real bruiser aswell, as you’d expect.
Bruree, with a strong wind, were 11 points up at half-time; got a couple of goals towards the end of half in scrappy-enough fashion but were probably good value for their lead.
Again, they struggled in the second half and Pallasgreen slowly started chipping away at the lead. Malachy started banging frees over from massive distances, the pick of them being the one to move them within a point- from his own '45, right on the sideline.
They had moved their wing-back, Tony McMahon, into full-forward for the second half and he buried a goal which really got them going. Then the Bruree goalkeeper had a mini-meltdown after Mala’s monster free, hitting two puckouts in a row straight to Pallasgreen men who converted. Pallasgreen went 2 up going into added time but Bruree dug their heels in and got level again, John O’Brien came off the bench to hit a leveller.
But then the Bruree keeper gave away a penalty with 65 minutes gone; Malachy was told to drive it over and he did. They thought time was up but Jason Mullins gave Bruree another chance. He ended up allowing the puckout, then gave them a soft free around midfield. It was a tough enough one against the wind, but Kieran O’Dea nailed it for a draw.
I’d be surprised if it wasn’t the case, they’ve looked the two best teams comfortably.
Doon & the Well could beat one of them were they to underperform but the Well will need Lynch if they are to produce the kind of performance they would need.
V hard to see past a NaP Kilmallock final Doon and the Well should come through the q finals but hard to see them winning a semi against either of them
