Limerick GAA - knocked down, but will get up again

It’s huge for hurling around the city area if monaleen start to be competitive in the latter stages of the senior championship on a regular basis. Absolutey brilliant to see.

Did they line our as selected? i.e. Was Conor Nicholas marking Tom Morrissey?

Please refrain from using the phrase “rolled back the years” about lads that are younger than me

ALTC picked him up for most of it. Morrissey wore 14 but roamed all over the place. Problem was that Ahane had no-one inside with any threat as a result. Conor Nicholas cleared balls at his ease. Monaleen played Darren Golden (wearing 5) at wing forward and Collins, while named at 11, was corner-forward.

Was Niall Moran playing ?

No. Was listed in the programme as no. 30 but didn’t come on. He was on the sidleline alright.

Donach O’Donnell who was Limerick hurling coach under John Allen is training Ahane.

Gerry Collins missed a lot of last year through injury afaik and would have been a big loss, he’s a very dangerous forward. Just looking at the programme, and Monaleen would look to have a better range of forwards, was Ed Doyle on the edge of the square? Mark O’Dwyer too is lively.

Tbf none of them are near Tom Morrissey’s level but it’d be nice to have other scoring options. They had a few decent fellas on their 21s but they might still be ineligible.

Ed played centre-forward but Dan Morrissey unsurprisingly had the better of that battle. Mark O’Dwyer was very good. Contributing a lot more from play these days. Starting to win his own ball and took a few fine scores.

Did Hego play centre-forward for Pats? How was he?

I see Gavin has been named midfield for Kilmallock, with Paudie O’Brien at 14, Paddy O’Loughlin at 6.

Lynch & Gillane named on the wings for the Well.

WOD named midfield, with Cathal King at centre-back and Tommy Grimes & Mike Foley in the corners. Downes named wing-forward, Dowling in the corner. Obviously hard to know if they’ll actually line out that way.

Interestingly, Croom have named at Conor Allis at centre-back. He was not playing when we played them a few weeks ago.

Allis played full forward for London during the league.

Allis never kicked on from the potential he showed early on, still a quality hurler.

Informative rating.

He missed the last two club championship seasons; they made the county final without him last year, would be a big addition for Croom!

There’s an awful cunt of a breeze here in Kilfinane :upside_down_face:

HT in Kilfinane.

Hospital Herbertsown 0-07
Drom Broadford 0-03

Fairly dull game thus far. Drom will be up against it in 2nd half playing against a strong breeze…

The best centre back in the country lording it for Effin.

Hannon for goals, Quaid for number six.

Nice view of the mountain though

They were 7-3 down with the breeze behind them?

Wet and windy in Bruff.

Yes.

Ended up 1-9 to 10 points in favour of Hospital Herbertstown.

Some poor wides from both sides. Drom only started hurling late in the 2nd half.

Great view of the back of the crowds heads mainly on view on LimerickGaaTv
