Flanagan is the new Dow. First man in.
Same but I’d move Casey back to full back. I’d play a full forward line of Gillane Flanagan Casey
Does that mean the Dow is no longer the first man in?
The Dow is the new P Casey, second man in.
I’ll probably have to start calling for Flanagan to start and lads will be telling me there’s no way he could fit into kielys system and to take off my Flanagan tinted glasses.
I agree that Appled’s team above will more than likely start against Cork. I just prefer how we look with Flanagan in, gives us an extra bit of speed, power and physicality in the forward line. Hope he can have a big impact when introduced
We are still very light on full back cover. Tom condon will give you his all but if he’d to start v cork he’d be taken apart imo. After that we are threadbare. Paddy o Laughlin will cover the half back line, midfield is grand with Colin Ryan and Robbie Henley. Conor boylan could be more of a starter than impact sub while the Dow is the opposite.
I dont think you can start both Mul and Peter Casey
I think it’s purely to make sure Gillane isn’t double marked. Kiely knows if he gets him one on one he’ll go To town on the cork defense.
will o Donoghue an option in the half back line shocko?
Defo but missed the league. Would worry about our lack of pace in the halfback line.
Yeah but we said this last year too and at the end of day the 3 of them were unreal & we bate all before us.
They’re all proven.
What was good enough last year will not be good enough this year. Teams will have analysed us a lot more and will have worked out our strengths and weaknesses. You must always strive to improve or else you fall back quickly.
O Loughlin very similar to each of our half backs, it’s trading like for like when he comes on. No bit of pace it seems on half back cover, unless Barry Nash is used there as a sub as he played 7 in the league
Colin Malachy can play there. As can Will O Donoghue, neither are slow.
True, loads of height too in WOD and O Loughlin
POL isn’t as good on the ball. Wod is a good alternative.
I’d start Flanagan every day of the week.
Let him run the Cork backs into the ground and then maybe unleash Mul with 15/20 minutes to go. A nightmare for a tiring corner back or full back to see him coming on, full of exuberence.
Either way, the gaffer will know best.
We’ll murder the bastards … piss all over them …
Sorry - wrong thread.
I’d see this as the other way round with Flanagan & Mul.
Either way good dilemma.
