Limerick GAA - knocked down, but will get up again

Limerick lead 9 to 7 at half-time in the minor.

Clare had an early lead but Limerick have got on top, O’Neill has picked off a few nice scores.

Sounded like once Limerick got to grips with the Clare game plan they ran out handy enough winners

Clare struggled for scores tbh, the full-forward picked off a couple of nice ones and Meehan pulled a goal out of nothing but they didn’t feed them enough.

This is a serious Limerick team though. Eddie Stokes was brilliant today, O’Donovan & O’Connor a huge threat inside in the second half. O’Neill & Reale excellent. Work rate and use of the ball generally very good.

Willie O’Dea doing selfies with random supporters in The Ardhu now.

It has been that type of day.

Joe McDonagh next. We’ve won everything else.

Will kyler be able to play v wexford or will he be “injured” again?

We won’t be playing Wexford. They’ll lose their semi

Just back from Limerick Institute of Technology, Gaelic Grounds after seeing National League, All-Ireland and world champions Limerick emphatically rout Tipperary to secure another Munster title.

I’ve not enjoyed a match as much since, well, the Clare game three weeks ago.

I’ll step in ahead of @Julio_Geordio - if he doesn’t mind - and give this weeks player ratings. All of them a 9. Byrnes maybe a 9.5.

Terrific response after the concession of both goals. These lads are made of the right minerals. They thrive off adversity. Still left about 4-08 behind us so still plenty to work on.

Tipp battled to the end and fair play to them. Nobody likes to see great players like Brendan Maher and Callanan part of teams humiliated like that. They’ll still be in the All-Ireland final though and will be a different beast in seven weeks time.

Looks like it’s Limerick v Cork in the semi final now. Cork are well overdue a semi final victory. They’ve collapsed when the pressure has been on in recent years, they need Hoggy to stand up and deliver when the need is greatest. Hoggy, Nashy and Cads ain’t getting any younger. Have they the bottle to deliver in Croke Park…? They’ll probably be favourites and deservedly so after comfortably beating the reigning champions only a few weeks back. 14 years since they last won the All-Ireland, you know. We’ve already won the league and Munster so that game will matter more to Cork.

Lovely to complete the double today too. The better side and deserving winners. Young Reale had a smashing game at centre field. Clare management should be ashamed of themselves employing a sweeper system for that age group. Their negative, fear-induced approach got exactly what it deserved - fuck all.

The pints in The Ardhu tasted extra sweet this evening. The hurlers really are the people’s team - tremendous buzz around town afterwards. Today was another dagger to the heart of all associated with Munster Rugby football. They have drugs cheats like Gerbrandt Grobler as ambassadors - the Limerick hurlers have Sean Finn, Cian Lynch and Graeme Mulcahy.

We go again for the u-20’s on Wednesday night.

Limerick absolutely destroyed Tipp. Sheedys legacy is under pressure now.

Kiely joins the pantheon of the managerial greats.

Open to correction but I think he’s the only manager in the history of the GAA to win all of the following as a manager…

  • provincial u-21 title.
  • All-Ireland u-21 title.
  • senior provincial pre season competition.
  • National League title
  • senior provincial championship title.
  • senior All-Ireland title.
  • Boston World championship.

A Limerick - Wexford final would be unrale. A Cork - Tipp final still looks on the cards though.

Where are ye going on holidays this year

Hurling needs a strong Wexford.

All The Ardhu was roaring them on during the last ten minutes of the Leinster final yesterday.

Cheering on a team facing KK, there’s a shock
Hurling needs a strong (insert weaker county here) is some shitty cliche

Hurling needs a strong Cork.

There’s a real desperation among the Cork support now to end their drought. The small little fishes like Limerick are just in bonus territory now really.

I tipped Cork at the outset of the year and I stand by it.

You couldn’t begrudge them an All-Ireland.
