Christ, if we ever needed a win that was it.

Started excellently and could have been out of sight if it wasnā€™t for some nervous wides in the opening half. At 2-8 to 0-2 it should have been curtains but Tipp, and Oā€™Riordan in particular, got the radar working and atoned for some dreadful misses of their own.

David McCarthy made some vital saves but I thought Pat Simon was immense tonight. Best Iā€™ve ever seen him in a green jersey. Ran himself into the ground and linked up well with others also. Hegarty and Byrnes were colossal in the air but are a bit vulnerable when turned and run at, something Clare will do plenty of. Richie English is in good form also and broke even with Tippā€™s best player on the night.

A lot to work on - Ronan Lynch is clearly off the pace and some of our shooting is a bit scattergun but, tonight, the result was all that mattered. 4 championship defeats in 8 days would have had me looking for a rope.

We get knocked down, but we get up again.

PS - Colm Lyons is no more an inter-county referee than a bucket of spanners. Barry Oā€™Connell can have no complaints over his double-yellow but Lyons is clearly out of his depth at this level.

Didnā€™t see a replay of two yellows. First looked harsh second was a yellow all day long. Lyons made a bizarre call on Cian Lynch.

Both were fair enough, brainless from Oā€™Connell.

Whoā€™s be better to mark Duggan, Byrnes or Oā€™Connell?

Must add in Colin Ryan done very well when introduced. Good tough Pallas lad.

My room mate made a cunt of the recording but John Allen said it wasnā€™t a red but Iā€™ve yet to see the incidents myself and neither tbh. O Connell looked comfortable at 3 for intermediates but you couldnā€™t move richie after tonight.

The keeperā€™s save late on was spellbinding.

weldone

He was an excellent minor, very underrated. He is an excellent wing back and more mobile than what we have there already. Sean Finn will start the next day. Byrnes needs to go cb, he was excellent when there. We have a terrible habit of hitting aimless ball against a wind going for hail mary points is braindead. Cian Lynch is so good but he needs to do the simple thing with the ball. Pat Ryan man of the match, outstanding.

O Connell was one of the few backs to pick out his men well. Brynes can be aimless and G Heg just terrible in possession.

Agreed, he needs to realise that people will not think less of him if he just does the simple things well and puts the ball over the bar :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Ye obviously see him a lot more than me but on what Iā€™ve seen Iā€™ve always felt Ronan Lynch was overrated

I wouldnā€™t judge him on tonight. He is very unfit but wouldnā€™t lace Cians boots in my opinion.

Iā€™ve seen him carrying ardscoil in the Harty cup from 6 when was only in fourth year and was sold on him then. He has had some massive performances for the minors and was probably more of a stand out player than Cian over two years. Suffers from being moved about all over the place though, I think he may have been shoved in at full forward at one stage today even (?). He plays best in the middle third. He has been excellent at wing back for the club. Very little hurling done recently so Iā€™d expect him to improve. Hopefully he delivers on underage promise, I expect he will but may take some time.

Missed this tonight. Sickened. What time usually do TG4 put the game up on their player?? After midnight or following morning or what?

Tomorrow afternoon/evening
