Limerick GAA - We get knocked down 🐐

Summer inter county football on hard pitches - no
Winter - heavy pitches, slow football - yes

I’d suggest that the many KIB players that people in Clare say are a disgrace for not playing with the county would not overly improve the side if they did play. But at club level they are fine.

There is a multitude of other examples - Pukey wasnt Ken Ralph one of the best Clare club hurlers for years but was never great at inter county? Andrew Whelan was another, Lorcan Hasset maybe aswell.

Conversely often inter county players are not the best at club level. Would suggest that is possibly the reason Colin Ryan hasnt been given a chance until now for Clare.
Runt,

How good is this Ian Ryan bloke? Looked superb yesterday from the pieces I saw and didn’t he put up a massive score last year against Meath?

Great to see a player like that coming on the scene.
He’s a fantastic footballer, kicked some super points yesterday. He is still U/21 at the moment. It’s the first time in a few years we have had the makings of a truely top class scoring forward. He also turned down the chance to join and Aussie Rules team last year so he is 100% commited to the Limerick cause which is great.

He scored 3-7 against Meath last year, so we’ll be hoping for some more qualifier heroics in the coming weeks.

Have to mention Ger Collins too, the lad has really burst onto the scene this year, some of the ball he got delievered yesterday was poor but time and again he emereged with ball he had no right to win. Still bitterly disappointed about yesterday but at least there is hpoe there for the future.

If you want to talk about failed Clare club players then take it the Clare thread. Luckily for us the inter county set up in Limerick is nothing like the Clare shambles.

Wont disagree with that but how many points did Limerick beat the Clare shambles by again? Plus Galvin should certainly have been sent off. If the inter county set up in Limerick is so good why do you want to get rid of the manager?

While I hope Limerick make it to Croke Park this year, I have a feeling they could be annihilated big time up there similar to what happened Sligo and even Leitrim (many many years ago).

The irony of a Clare football supporter belittling the likes of Limerick, Leitrim or Sligo is truly astounding.

Alas it is to be expected from this clown.

We beat them by 4 points. We did what was necessary.

I never claimed it was perfect just that it was better than the shambles in Clare. I’ve stated plenty of times why I want Mickey Ned replaced. He’s over paid for somebody who is merely acting as a liason officer between the team and the media.

I’m not belittling anyone you mong. Just calling it as I see it. If you have a problem with that jog on.

Don’t think he has ever said anything less, he recently said all he is, is a facilitator.

A very well paid facilitator though.

Dont underestimate how valuable that is plus I’m sure he is more than that anyway. Buckley struggles at man management, media and everything else but is a fantastic coach. Clare football is a poorer place without him.

Fair enough Runt, i wouldn’t know about his remuneration/expenses etc.

KIB is been shown up here big time. I think its fairly obvious Limerick have got themselves to a very reasonable level a couple of years ago, and have now added nicely with a couiple of really talented young fellas. Another scoring forward would help the cause no end.
They haven’t faded like many expected after coming close to Kerry and beating Cork a few years ago.
Still believe they are creaping into the top 8.
Munster Football is surely now the top of the pile in terms of having very decent teams competing. Kerry, Cork, Limerick and Tipp all have decent footballing sides. In Leinster Dublin play decent football, and i like the way Kildare are going. Haven’t seen Wicklow, but under MIcko they can’t be bad from a footballing point of view. In the west Mayo and Galway play good football while in Ulster its just the finalists Tyrone and Antrim (the little bit i saw) play, what i believe to be, Good Football.
The rest is shite to be honest.

Yep I’m being shown up alright Kev

Derry and Donegal if they sorted themselves out would have decent sides. Still think my cheeky tenner on Donegal at 160/1 on Betfair after they had beaten Carlow might have value. They will definitely beat Clare anyway.

In a footballing sense I think Cork are poor to watch. None of their half forward line ( Gould, O’Neill, Kelly) or midfield has an ounce of guile and they struggle to kick the ball accurately. They protect the full back line well and have a lot of heavy hitters around the middle. Their style of playing is predominately a running game similar to a lot of sides in Ulster.

Think you are overestimating Munster slightly there Kev!

Tipperary beat Louth by a point on Satruday and Louth missed a penalty.

Still not sure about Limerick. Yeah they played well against Cork,. and obviously have some excellent players, but they still are a Division Four side, no matter how much you say it’s irrelevant.

I know one other well informed Limerick man who has been banging this drum for a long time as well

The Runt = SLR

Thats your opinion, but its not shared by many to be fair.

Not at all, Limerick clearly forgot about the league, for whatever reason.
Are you telling me that Wexford, Armagh, Laois, Fermanagh, Meath, Cavan, Rosscommon, Louth, Offaly, Tipperary and Down are all better teams than Limerick because they are playing a higher division in the league next year???
Get off the stage, championship is all that matters.

I was also talking about the style and quality when mentioning Tipp and the likes. Louth are a poor mans Monaghan, Tipp play a very attractive style of football, and thank god that won through.

Basically it was my opinion on who’d i’d pay in to watch, or sit in front of tv to watch.
Thats 4 counties from Munster out of 6, 2 out of 9 in Ulster, 2 out of 5 in the West and 2 from the Pale.

Derry are absolute muck, as they have shown in 2 championships in a row now, the ultimate League means f-all team.

Ken Ralph was a fine club hurler alright, think he captained tipp at minor level before playing in clare but just lacked the bit of cut needed for intercounty level…Lorcan Hassett was another lad that was unlucky not to make the break through either…

Your second point is nothing more than bollocks, he was called up by Considine in 2007, played a few league games and came on as a sub v Cork in the semplegate game, he was far too soft for intercounty hurling at the time, pulled out of a challenge and ended up getting his collarbone broken…considering the lad is still under 21 as well he is only just ready for intercounty hurling this season…
