Pallas are in a class of their own. I have had 3 of them sent off over the years directly against me. And i have been in countless mass brawls with them from u14 up to senior and back to junior b again.
I fucking love beating them, this year we beat them with an u12 team, u16 team and inter hurlers. 3-0 for 2012.
What was the final score in the Intermediate final? Must have been low scoring like typical Pallasgreen matches where they have to resort to fighting and trying to scaremonger their opponents.
Twas 0-03 to 0-02 at half time Dunph, my correspondent considered going up town to Clarkeyâs altogether but is glad he hung round for the dust up now.
Pallas have always been a dirty shower of cunts, Claughan would not be squeky clean in recent times either. Once they go down a few points they have a tendency to leave the boot in aswell.
Unfortunately Mickee your beloved St Senans are struggling to field teams at minors/21âs in recent years (like most clubs) and are participating in the U/21 12-a-side competition which they should win easily.
Deel Rangers, who are an amalgamation of 3 clubs, turned up to their first game in the championship proper with only 9 players and had to give a walkover.
I was on to a Feonagh man last night and he told me their club had stopped the minors playing so the other 2 parishes pulled there players. This all happened the night before the championship.
No idea. I wouldnât mind but they won the intermediate football league Saturday night . They must have a few footballers and it is obvious the football in going better for them than the hurling. They were unlucky not to be in a junior A county semifinal at the moment aswell.
They were also relegated from Senior football this year.
Foynes and Shanagolden, two traditionally strong soccer teams, have also joined and now play under the name Shannonside (but that happened 4/5 years ago)
did they amalgamate in the finsh, jesus i never thought that would happen.
Foynes always had decent soccer teams allright, TBH id say soccer is a far bigger game now in foynes - newcastlewest - shanagolden the gaelic football⌠is there still no interest in rugby over there either?
My father was at the Pallas match and it was Robert OâDonnell of you guessed it Pallas that started the fight. He would be the son of the great James OâDonnell ( You canât beat Breeding). Some Claughaun lad went up to shake his hand and he punched him in the face.
The gateâs were locked as supporters were trying to get into to the field, your usual suspects, McMahonâs, Gammellâs, Cosgraveâs etc. There was no one seriously hurt which is a good thing and Pallas won the fight for anyone interested.
Those sceneâs bring me back to the good old days when I was playing. I remember playing Galbally in an U 16 Hurling match in Knocklong, when all hell broke loose. It was a free for all with supporters getting involved. The match was abandoned and it was played again in Hospital with only 3 officials from each side allowed into the field. I remember chasing Ballysteen onto a bus in Pallas. I think it was a minor football match and all hell broke loose again.
The best one was against Ballybrown in a under 16 football match down in Crecora. There was a few scuffles during the match, but nothing major, we were all walking off the field when that cunt Terrence Kenny hit our full forward with an umbrella, by god was he sorry. He got hammered, I remember a women and her son getting hit as well. The brawl went on for a good ten minutes, it was mayhem. We met them in the County final later on in the year in Caherconlish. Iâd say a crowd of around 2,000 turned up for it.
Those were great days.
