Of course you wonāt you cunt because to do that would be to admit that you were wrong all along. Kip Killagain brought in Kip junior when they were seven points up so that he would be in the team climbing up the steps. To say otherwise is to admit there are serious mental deficiencies in your own gene pool. Like that other prick @glasagusban you have been found out and Batt has been proven right. There were serious questions to be asked about managements of both teams today and due to a compliant media they will not be asked. After the destruction of the GAA programme on WLR 102 there is now no-one to ask the hard questions.
I see the voice of Limerick GAA was tweeting from abroad today. Luckily I was in a position not to have to suffer whatever commentary they had going today but whats the betting that fuckwit Joe wonāt ask relevant questions on Monday morning?
How was I wrong āall alongā? Show me where I have heralded the minor manager of 2013 and 2014. They made mistakes last year and this year (while also getting some things right). Drafting in lads late and dropping other lads who have trained for months is poor form and I said the same last year.
I said I wouldnāt comment on one particular incident yesterday because it is not the fault of the player in question. Heās only a 16/17 year old child ffs. Criticise grown men if you like but leave the abuse of a young lad out.
Ultimately I want the minors - like any Limerick team - to win. At the end of the day I try and stay out of all the politics and go by what I see on the pitch. You were quiet after they beat Tipp and Cork but put the boot in first chance you get. Same for the senior lads.
You make some valid points at times about the rotten core of some of the decision makers in the CB and elsewhere but saying āBatt has been proven rightā when weāre all disappointed today just makes you seem like a bitter cunt. We made mistakes on the line in both the senior and minor games but Iāll hold fire on slaughtering them totally until we are out of the championship.
Our backs were my one worry and they were exposed easily. Cronin going off was a disaster for us as we were holding our own on the high balls, once sully came on they pulled us all over the field. But thatās a well drilled Cork team with three games under their belt to get to that level, Iām hoping that brings us on a lot and two weeks is the perfect break. Itās been highlighted enough, but management donāt seem to know what they want in their forward lineā¦ Breen deserves some credit tho, he gets enough slack. Plenty of positives and options but this is where we will see if Teege is truely big league material.
Not so sure. Ryan only being used as a mid or wing forward this year so far. Dempsey left off the 26 yesterday. Dodge wonāt be moved to half back. I doubt Morrissey will be brought in. That leaves Walsh, King, maybe Carmody, three corner backs. That leaves Hickey as our only likely half back addition.
Having a think about where we go from here. I think our failings arenāt going to be fixed by a change in personnel only, but system wise we need improvement too. Thatās not really something we can fix in two weeks but one thing we could do is have the half forward line playing a lot deeper leaving room for the full forward line. OāGrady in particular, and the rest, need to be told to fire every ball into space in the corners where Mulcahy and Downes will win any balls put in front of them. High ball to Dowling should be very occasional. This might provide some cover for our backs too.
Donāt see why we canāt use some of OāGradyās plays from the league too. One effective one was withdrawing downes to half forward and putting Mulcahy full forward leaving the corner spot empty; firing ball into the empty space Mulcahy is going to win the foot race to the ball and drag the full back with him. Itās a set up that should be tried for the odd 10min period.
Selection wise, Tom Ryan for Paudie and Allis/Moran for Hannon would be positive.
We lost a tight championship game by two goals. There are a lot of positives. Normally after a championship defeat the mood in the county can be ugly but most people are fairly upbeat today. We played very well in patches and there is still scope for a lot of improvement.
Iād favour slight tweaks here and there rather than wholesale changes. Paudie OāBrien has been our most consistent player for the past two years, he had a tough day yesterday but Iād favour retaining him. Heās a class act in full flow, Lehane is the type of player who can torment any defender when his dander is up. Paudie is one of the leaders in the squad and Iād expect him to come back all guns blazing. The same with Gavin.
We finally have a position for Dowling. Leave him in there and heāll trouble any full back in the air. Personally Iād favour leaving Kevin Downes in beside him with Graeme Mul given a floating role to help out the half forward line and dart around the place.
Pleased to see David Breen play well. He has improved in the air while his decision making was also decent. Him and Dodge are nailed on for the half forward line, the other wing forward spot is up for grabs. Dec Hannon is a class act but giving him a breather and introducing him against tiring defenders when the game has opened up may be the best option at this moment in time (Paidi OāSullivan did well in similar circumstances yesterday). Iām a big fan of Tom Ryan, great athleticism and well able to score. He has to be close to breaking into the team.
The extra games Cork had stood to them. A little bit sharper and more measured. Weāve a chance in the quarter final but canāt get too complacent. Some people reckon we are in the semi final already v Kilkenny. Wexford are back as a competitive force (a rake of excellent young players) while Waterford should have beaten the team who were crowned Munster champions yesterday, having hurled them up a stick for 50 minutes of the drawn game.
The quarter final will be a fierce battle and weāll be doing well to get through. At least there will be no hype before the quarter final and the team can get on with preparations without too much hassle. By Saturday evening thereāll be 6 teams left in it and they all can beat each other on any given day. Wide open and weāve as good a chance as any.
Mostly agree there @dodgy-keeper, donāt see how Paudie can possibly be retained though. At least not at wing back. Use him as an impact sub at midfield I think. Iām a massive fan of Gavin but heās had two very poor games in a row now, considering how good and consistent he usually is I canāt see him turning it around in two weeks now. Iād be favour of a Ryan Wayne Hickey half back line for the next game. Itās drastic but if we have ambitions of going further I think we need to bite the bullet.
Glas, Hickey had Horgan well shackled until he moved to wing back. Leave him where he is for gods sake.
A side note, on what form or basis would you want Allis to be involved? As stated one good game in three years. Even in the league this year he was awful.
I felt the full backline was very solid up until we moved Seamus out (Cadogan got a few points but a player like him will always chip in with scores). Hickey is a great reader of the game, nullified Horgan and picked up a lot of the breaks that broke around Richie and Tom Condon. Iād be in favour of keeping that unit in tact - bringing in Stephen Walsh (a fine player) resulted in two lines being disrupted. If we are going to change a member of the halfback line it should be a straight swap (King).
Look, itās like this. We carried three passengers the other day in Hannon, Paudie and Gavin, and our forward line also played as individuals rather than a unit- We still put up 24 on the board and throw in the few frees that Shane nails 98% of the time and the naivety of running at goal with ten minutes left and a truer reflection is a 26-28 point game all while not playing to true potential. We were up against a team with three games under their belt, and who were slack enough for two of those games themselves, as opposed to our one game 5 weeks ago. Hannon, Breen and Hickey have still very little hurling done this year and it can only get better from them. Dowling and Mulcahy were also much more involved in open play then I have seen for a whileā¦ Who ever and how many more games we get we will rattle anyone left in it- This is a team with belief and lots of leaders and they know they will have underperformed to a degree the other day. We have the players, itās about finding the balance now. In Teege we trust! Up Limerick! #wegoagain

Hickey did have Horgan well shackled, but Horgan is often well shackled from play. I would have thought we should have had Hickey on Cadogan from early on as Condon couldnāt match his pace.
If we have to change a wing back, and we do, Ryan is the straight swap replacement. If we have to change a second wing back, and I think we do, we donāt have another straight swap sub IMO, Hickey will have to move forward. Iām a fan of King, but I see him as a pacey type corner back (or perhaps a replacement for Browne for the final minutes) and would worry about him at wing back at this level. I think Dempsey is a better defender but he is not getting a look in, it seems Walsh is higher in the pecking order than both. After the last 21s game Iād be happy to see Carmody corner back either. On what Iāve seen for Limerick this year at all levels Iād probably now pick either of the three mentioned above before King for corner back, but then Iām not seeing them in training at the mo. Breen might be another wing back option but Iād leave him where he is.
On Allis, it depends on what way you go with Hannon. Do we start him again and hope he comes good or drop him and bring him in as a sub under no pressure and with a point to prove and hope he performs and and plays his way all into a starting spot for the next game (if we have one)? Iād lean towards option 2. If you replace Hannon, Allis is my favoured replacement. He works hard, has more running in him than Hannon, and can take a score, I think he did well enough in the league.
As I said though, changing personnel wonāt be enough. Route one high ball to dowling as our only means of delivery to inside forwards isnāt good enough and wastes our best attacking options in the two corners without getting too far ahead of ourselves, we should put one eye on kk -if you donāt expect a limerick player to be able to live with their marker v kk whatās the point in starting them in the next game.
Okay, if we are going to talk about corner backs Mark Carmody is not in the same stable as Alan Dempsey not even close. He was absolutely awful vs Clare when he should have been leading that young team. He will not make the grade in Limerick, not good enough. Allis will be enjoying his last year at this grade also. Not good enough, we can continue to accept this level of performance from certain guys then we will always fall short. Went to the games Allis for me is not up to the required standard, that is just my view. There will be 5/6 minors in or around the panel next year and there are a few you will never see again. Carmody and Allis are two for me. Cathal King is a top class hurler with a savage engine, he is not a corner back, the roasting vs Galway told us that. Not looking to argue but we cannot accept bluffers anymore and we have a few of them in this county. Time to get serious.
Donāt know what game you were watching against Clare if thatās your view on Carmody in that game. King is not a wing back at this level. Dempsey is better than either. Youāre set against Allis, fair enough, but suggesting he wonāt be on the panel next year is silly and unfair. Your criticism is over the top.
