Limerick GAA - We get knocked down 🐐

I wasn’t at all impressed with Carmody against Clare either Glas. He won no ball in open play, was cleaned under dropping ball and didn’t inspire confidence at all.

He hit a bit of ball out of defence all right but it was mostly won by others and passed to him and was often misdirected to his forwards. Not at all ready for senior inter-county and possibly never will be.

Dempsey, however, is a class act but got a wallop in training a few weeks ago and missed a lot of sessions hence he wasn’t in the squad last Sunday. He’ll be back though and is one for the future. Actually think his best position is midfield.

Glas he pumped aimless ball after aimless ball in the corners that night and he also got hooked twice for scores against Clare. Jesus like what game do i have to be watching. What in gods name has Allis done bar one performance in three years to deserve a spot on the panel not to mind the starting fifteen. I have no issue with the kid, he does not even stand out at intermediate lad. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. It is the old backward Limerick attitude that has held us back for years. Fook it next you will tell me you still think Tom Ryan (manager) should be involved in the senior set up. This county has been ravaged by politics for years and it is changing thank fook. I would not have had Foley/Carey or Ryan anywhere near that u21 side, they were fooking rudderless and clueless on the line.

Cathal King got absolutely destroyed vs Galway in the league, did you watch the game??? And you suggest him for the full back line. he is a half back or midfielder, he would add a great option from wing back due to his pace.

In a team beaten all over the pitch he swept up a lot of ball and was very composed on it. Agree to differ, I think he was one of maybe four players I would say did well that day. Anyway, it is ridiculous to talk about discarding a player that is still u21 already.

Current management haven’t given Dempsey much of a look in. Had he gotten a few runs in the league I think he’d have justified his place on the team at corner back. That is his position at this level, and best position in general. I think most that have seen a lot of him over a few years would agree. He is going to get a chance sometime soon and will be very hard to shift out of the corner once he does, unfortunately I don’t think it will be this year.

I agree with you on the Galway game, but he is not physical enough or strong in the air for wing back, IMO(would he live with kk?). If he is to make it at this level it will eventually be at corner back, or as an impact sub mid. I’ll be happy to be proven wrong, I’m a fan of King. I’m one of the few on here that speaks the truth on Tom Ryan, dial back the attacks kid. Carey is super management material, he needs a good coach and a couple of decent selectors with him. If he recognises that himself from his experience this year and addresses it in taking on the 21s again next year then he is a far better prospect as a future senior manager than the likes of Ryan or Quaid.

The 21s surprisingly had no game plan going into the Clare game … Players were also waiting for management to counter Clare’s dominance on puckouts but nothing came. That was disappointing to hear… But maybe it was always a 2 year project with the team with the aim of really giving it a rattle next year… Just seems odd they were so ill prepared.

@glasagusban , reply please.

What to say mate? Sounds like you’ve been talking to a player? Players waiting for management to counteract Clare’s dominance on puck outs? Sounds like a bit of a cop out. What were they to do in fairness?

I’ve touched on this a few times already, but many of the back room team shouldn’t have been involved. Ciarán is a brilliant man manager and motivator and very astute, but needs a top coach in with him I think, he can’t do everything. The quality of some of the rest of the backroom team is questionable. What is the point of Tom Ryan? The current Clare u21 joint managers have spoken about the schooling they got in their first year, they were out of their depth, they went out and got Kinnerk and learned as much as they could and raised their professionalism and standards massively. Now I don’t think we were that ill prepared, you have to remember it was it was almost men against boys, compare the two midfields for example. Clare had superior and crucially older, stronger and much more experienced players, they were massive favourites for a reason. Remains to be seen if Carey learns something similarly, or maybe with the group a year older they’ll be much better. I’d love to see Ciarán back again, discarding Ryan and with a good coach.

Thanks, pal.

Thoughts yourself? @ciarancareyshurlingarmy (appropriately) probably has more insight here.

Gap year at u21 due to circumstances on the sideline and players not fit for the championship game. Need to see them seriously competitive for the next 3 years and drive a senior squad that will have a lot of core players aged 28+ next year.

I spent my evening at a junior b game in the well, local derby v ballybrown. Good entertainment, scores, brutal misses, 2 reds for the well, a few minor rucks, fat lads … All you expect in junior. Highlight was a bb player addressing the well sideline and calling them a crowd of tinkers. The ref did well.

Anyone spot it yet?

Sean Finn was from Rathkeale?

Lads, lads!

There’s no number 24 listed. Dawson is down as 25 which you can’t do in a minor championship game. I’m presuming that he’ll wear 24.

So they have two captains then?

No. There’s a captain and vice-captain clearly listed.

Its clearly a formatting issue on the app then :frowning:

Someone obviously knackered the 24 jersey after the drawn game
