A victory for hurling over tactics and yet another nail in the short passing bullshit coffin.
Our work rate was outstanding throughout and Wexford couldnāt handle our physicality. Had they hit scores instead of wides early on they might have made a contest of it but the two quick goals before halftime killed them off.
Quaid; Youāll never go wrong with a Quaid in goals. 9
Condon; Did what he had to do (which wasnāt much) tried to line a fella up for the kill midway through the second half and ended up looking a bit foolish. I think heād make a great half back. Needs the space to operate. 7
McCarthy; Oooooohhhhh Richie McCarthy. The best fullback in operation. Callinan, Cronin and MacDonald thoroughly mugged off. In fairness to MacDonald he got fuck all ball. Iām actively considering changing my username to āRichie McCarthyās magic arseā. 8
Hickey; Stifled McGovern well when the game was in the balance and had no issues with his pace. Showed he probably should have been on Cadogan in the Munster Final. 9
OāBrien. Better than the last day but not great, was good as an attacking half back and played in some nice balls, not great defensively. 7
Wayne. Another great score from Wayno. Was under serious pressure in the opening 15mins and looked off the pace. Came into it well afterwards and was comfortable throughout. 7
Gav. Same as OāBrien really. 7
Jim Bob & Browne. Fucking awesome. 10
Breen. Seriously mugged me off. Limited hurling wise, but he is finally starting to use his size to effect, heās like a train when he gets going. Some great catches and carries and Wexford couldnāt handle him although bizarrely made no switch. 9
Hannon. Much better in the centre lets leave him there. Won more puckouts yesterday than he has in the last two years of championship. Still only operating at 60% of his potential, if we can get him going it might be the extra bit we need. 8
Ryan. Didnāt look comfortable at half forward, but worked very hard and you could see his attributes as a half back. Saying that he got 3 points but I think he hit a couple of bad misses as well. Dodge should come back in for him the next day, but he is a great bench option and could be seriously considered to start at half back. 8
Mulcahy; Brilliant again yesterday, finally hitting form. Ball into him was much better and allowed him get involved. His touch is unreal. 9
Dowling; What a talent, and he seems to have ice in his veins. To think @glasagusban wanted him dropped at the start of the year :rolleyes:. A handful for any fullback. A couple of moments of brilliance stuck in the mind, being mauled by the defenders he managed to scoop a shot over by sticking his arse back and using the room where his body was for the swing, flicked a ball up while on his knees and surrounded by Wexicans, his lay off for Breens goal. We should all start on the hot chicken roll and supermacs diet immediately. 10
Downes. Trying too hard and its just not clicking for him. Heāll get there though, needs to stop trying for the miracle scores. Need to have him firing to beat KK. 6
Tobin was excellent when he came on, though the game was well over as a contest at that stage. Moran looked very rusty.
Hard to learn too much from that, though we are imo in a much better situation than we were last year after winning the Munster. Another game on the belt and confidence should be high. We are also facing KK which will stop us getting carried away with ourselves.
Weāll have a right rattle off the cunts and at 100% we will beat them. Weāll need everyone firing though which hasnāt happened yet this year.
