Limerick GAA - We get knocked down 🐐

Aye, who the fuck is PUM? Someone needs to start an acronym database thread up in here.

Seamus Hickey is on Off the Ball now on Newstalk

One thing we have clearly learned over the last couple of years is that the league is now practically worthless. Yeah, it would be nice to get promotion and I was sick after losing to Dublin last year and slipping up in Tullamore a few months back but playing in 1A or IB doesn’t really matter at all. It’ll be a dogfight to get out of it but if we don’t it’s not the end of the world. It should be used solely to strengthen the squad for next summer and nothing else. If we get promoted, great.

Hard to know which of the minor crop will get called up next year. Ronan Lynch will be in 6th year and can’t be expected to train with an inter-county side while doing his Leaving. Might be heresy to suggest this but it may be for the best to give Cian Lynch another year with the u-21’s. He’ll be playing with the seniors for long enough anyway. Freshers hurling, club and county u-21 and club and county senior would be too much for a young lad imo. Richie English would be a lad who I think is worth a place on the panel.

Need to get the management situation sorted out quickly. Scour the county during the club championship for any unpolished diamonds. Dodge only broke on to the team when he was 23/24 and only started one match of the 3-in-a-row at u-21 level - and he was taken off in that. Not sure if he even played minor either. Once Padjoe Whelehan called him in he never looked back so it does happen that players can slip through the net.

His touch is not really the issue TAN, its the fact he is not direct enough that rankles me. Last Sunday he won a ball before HT and had turned Murphy ( murphy had lost the hurl ) yet he looked to offload to Dowling straight away. Dowling did very well under pressure from 3 to score, but Downes should have eyes for goal. It was on yet he never even looked for it.
On his debut against WD he caused serious trouble running at goal. He needs to regain that eye for goal to find his niche in that team.

How can you say we have clearly learned that the league is worthless? The facts of it are that the limerick hurling supporters totally overreacted when limerick didn’t gain promotion and through a crazy range of events, forced the hand of Donal O grady’s hand. We had a similar campaign last year yet everyone over reacted in April which could have cost this team dearly was it not for d fact that they were so determined to succeed. May I also add at this stage that every single pundit in d country wrote em off in d weeks after the o Grady controversy. I have no doubt that if this team under performs again in league 2015 that the ‘supporters’ will be demanding answers again and will not see the bigger picture overall.

Eh, that’s what I was saying - playing poorly (or even well) in the league counts for little enough overall. How the fans view the league (myself included) is not really relevant.

Agree with that. An example of loss of confidence that looks like to me.

Three year term confirmed for Teege.

@dodgy-keeper, I see your point, but of the recent minor crop I think Cian Lynch could be ready and up to a shot at corner forward (not his future position maybe but he has all the attributes needed and this is where we need to add a player). Ronan Lynch has never played too far above his own grade and probably rightly so, we’ll have to wait another year for him. Davy has thrown in a rake of players straight out of minor the last two years, O’Donnell, Galvin, a few more. I think Lynch is in their league and is a real option next year.

You not from Limerick? Then fuck away out of the thread. Cunt.

Limerick hurling needs a Limerick man.
Maybe you missed the first line. Get that cunt Gman to work it out for you.

LIMERICK GAA have this Tuesday night handed TJ Ryan as new three year term as Limerick senior hurling manager.

The officers of Limerick County Board took all by surprise at the August monthly meeting in Claughaun when proposing Ryan for the new term.

Limerick GAA chairman Oliver Mann reported that the executive officers had met with Ryan for over 90-minutes earlier Tuesday afternoon.

“We are recommending that TJ Ryan and his management team be given a three year term as Limerick senior hurling manager with a yearly review,” said the chairman.

“He is willing,” said Mann of the meeting with TJ Ryan.

He added that “practically 100% of his management team will be available to him”.

“We want no vacuum - we want to go forward as a united force,” said the chairman to club delegates.

The ratification of Ryan for a the new term did require club delegates putting to one side a bye law that normally requires 48-hours notice to be given to clubs for such appointments.

“Our aim coming here tonight was to ensure that we can put our best foot forward,” said the chairman.

There was no need for a vote with no dissenting voices against the new term for Ryan.

Not a bad reward for winning only two matches this year.

They took no-one by surprise because Liam Ahearn was saying this was the way to go on Monday morning. The media pawns of the CB knew so it was well planned. The pathetic clubs of Limerick once again prove how worthless they really are.

You wanted Anthony Daly to take over - he won one match this year.

For Limerick the league has had little impact on their championship preparation mainly due to a very settled team. The management have not had to try too many new players out. However next year players like Morrissey, Dempsey, Tommy O Brien and John Fitzgibon will be pushing to make a statement.

It’s difficult for them to do this against shite teams. It’s very important for Limerick to get promotion cause in 2016 there are likely to be at least 3\4 of the present minor team among others who will also be pushing for a place in the team.
You can see that Cody values training performances almost as high as league performances when picking teams, it seems that none of the other counties have followed suit and use the league to give new lads a chance to impress.

These cunts!

Please god the day will come again when we’ll have Cappamore men on the Limerick team again. It all went wrong when they stopped picking the Cappamore men.

The old cliche that League counts for fuck all cannot be glossed over here, LK gaining Division 1 pecking is vital for the teams development going forward. Playing the big boys in the League is a must to learn what is actually available to you for the Championship.

Very true. Heads should roll if we don’t achieve promotion in 2015!
