I’d say ye haven’t won 5 games between both codes in the Munster Championship in the past 7 years.
You wouldn’t bate a drum.
There’s plenty of fine up and coming young footballers in the county but the structures just aren’t there at the moment to allow them to compete with the other Munster counties.
Any idea if there’s any underage development plan in place in Clare?
Tipp obviously got their structures sorted years ago.
A lad playin minor other say for FrCaseys at corner forward think his name was pa was excellent but very small.
Really hope Feohanagh can win the junior. Seamus Flanagan was on fire for them in the semi final apparently. The pick that Na Piarsaigh have is incredible. Where they have come from compared to, say, 10 years ago is astounding.
West Limerick Colleges mugged off Thurles CBS with a last gasp equaliser in the Harty Cup yesterday (going by The Leader there was some high jinx on the sideline) while Castletroy beat DLS Waterford by two goals. Neither ASR or Doon were in action.
Great news about Kinnerk’s involvement in under-age football. Being crying out for decent structures for years.

From the Munster GAA Facebook. Seamus went off injured.
Thurles CBS and the West Limerick Colleges shared the spoils in an entertaining Harty cup battle hosted in Claughaun yesterday. The Thurles side took an early lead with points from Niall Heffernan and Brendan Kelly. In the 10th minute, Brendan Kelly from Thurles found the back of the Limerick side’s net to stretch their lead to 1-3 to 0-2. The West Limerick side started to settle into the game with Seamus Flanagan spearheading their attack scoring from placed balls and also contributing from play. At half time the Thurles side lead by 1-6 to 0-8.
Early In the second half, the Limerick side began to ask questions of the Thurles defence by running at them and none more so than Seamus Flanagan who was lined out at centre forward for the Limerick side. Seamus struck with a goal in the 40th minute after a marvellous individual run to put his side 1-9 to 1-7 ahead. Having finished the ball to the Thurles net, Seamus suffered an injury and had to retire from the play which was clearly a big loss to the amalgamated side. Thurles stayed in contention with some well taken scores from frees by Niall Heffernan. In the 50th minute, the Limerick side stuck for their second goal and were now taking a real foothold in the game with the score line reading 2-9 to 1-9. The Thurles side hit some bad wides and it seemed like the writing was on the wall for them until they strung a brace of points together to draw the game level in the 64th minute. Thurles’s free taker Niall Heffernan then slotted two fantastic long range efforts, followed by a point from Robbie Long which looked to put Thurles in a commanding position with seconds remaining on the clock. The West Limerick side were awarded a free on the 21 yard line, which was to be the last puck of the game in the 68th minute. Cian Magner Flynn had no choice but to go for goal and to the delight of the West Limerick backroom staff he duly obliged by sending the ball to the back of the Thurles net leaving the sides all square when referee Damien Fox called a halt to the day’s proceedings.

Some going to get the last puck of the game in the 68th minute.
Did they box the heads off each other for the last few minutes or what @dodgy-keeper

Going by the Leader one of the Thurles selectors acted the bollocks on the sideline. A female photographer taking some photos during the match and he, for some reason, told her to repeatedly fuck off. She moved away to different vantage points to take her snaps and he (the selector) even got the subs to move in front of her to block her view! All sounds a bit childish.
Obviously it made front page of The Leader. Slow news week.
When is the junior final on? If Flanagan is injured Feohanagh are screwed.

Sounds like they had an illegal player or something. Sneaky Tipp fucks.
@TreatyStones togged for the Tipp side. He’s only 4 foot five so they thought no one would notice with the helmet on. Sneaky Tipp bastards.
If it was football maybe, I’d say we’re safe enough with the hurling.
CLARE’S All-Ireland hurling winning coach Paul Kinnerk has been unveiled as Limerick’s new football coaching co-ordinator.
A former Limerick senior football, the Monaleen man commences immediately as work starts on the newly reorganised underage football academy.
Last month Kinnerk, who coached Clare to the 2013 All-Ireland SHC title and a hat-trick of U-21 All-Irelands, took a break from Davy Fitzgerald’s Clare set-up.
Joining Kinnerk will be Strength and Conditioning coach Darragh Droog. As well as the new implementation group this duo will lead the coaching of the inter-county sides from U-14 to U-17 level.
Former Limerick football captain Muiris Gavin is chairman of the new underage football implementation group. He is joined by footballboard officers John Cregan, Colette O’Grady, Gerry Philips and Limerick GAA secretary Mike O’Riordan. Former Limerick senior football coach Donie Buckley has also played a role in setting up the new academy.
The new management teams for the underage county sides will be confirmed in the coming week but already Gavin has confirmed that some current and former Limerick senior footballers will be involved - Stephen Lavin, Pa Ranahan, Conor Fitzgerald and Eoin Joy.
The appointment of Paul Kinnerk and Darragh Droog was ratified at this Tuesday’s County Board meeting.
“We think this is real positive news for Limerick football. We looked at the model that is used by the system hurling and that has brought about two Munster minor titles and an All Ireland minor final appearance so we have followed that model,” explained Football Implementation Group chairman Muiris Gavin.
“All underage county football teams will now be based every Saturday morning in LIT, where will be have the use of two playing pitches, their indoor hall, gym etc,” outlined Gavin.
“We have to start out again and put the proper coaching plan in place. We are putting to coaches in place and will also look to coach the coaches. This is the model that all top counties are using and hopefully all clubs and players will now support it,” said Gavin.
“Everybody has to come on board because it is important that all parts of the jigsaw is together.”
Gavin spoke of the importance of getting Paul Kinnerk to lead the revival.
“Paul will over see everything. He is basically designing the coaching plan. He is taking a break from Clare and we are delighted to have someone with his experience to come on board,” said Gavin, who is a club-mate of Kinnerk’s in Monaleen.
Limerick Football Board chairman John Cregan also welcomed the addition of Kinnerk.
“We are delighted to have Paul on board as a coaching co-ordinator. This is good news and a positive move for Limerick football,” Cregan told the October County Board meeting.
“We need a buy-in from everyone in clubs to ensure that we get the best raw material in for trials and training,” outlined Cregan.
The new academy structure commences this Saturday morning with the U-15, U-16 and U-17 panels. They are working from the 2014 panels at present with new faces to be added in the coming weeks. The U-14 panel will commence in the near future.
That’s gas. Wasn’t Kinnerk’s Clare resignation statement based around him travelling and it being more of a year out than anything? Afraid to tell Davy what his plans actually were?
It must really gall the hurling nazis like @Kid Chocolate & @twiceasnice97 that a number of key people in Clare hurling have jumped ship to get involved in football
Limerick U14 Football > Clare Senior Hurling, according to Paul Kinnerk. He’s really mugged off Clare here. Mugged them off good and proper.
that is correct, a weeding out exercise underway. U16s were strong this summer and the 17s are falling away as more of the 16s come in
We have a few very good u16’s. any idea if they are involved?

its down to time @TreatyStones
the Clare hurling commitment required time, organization and resulted in a consistent challenge from top level sportsmen
the limerick football (i had a giggle writing that)commitment requires scattering a few water bottles around some god forsaken west limerick cabbage patch and educating wannabies as to what to say re starting conversations with Kerry folk on football matters
