Best of luck Kilmallock tomorrow. If they can keep ryan and McGrath quiet theyâll do it. Easier said than done tho. Gavin will be on Ryan. Who will they put on McGrath?
Best of luck to Kilmallock.
Good luck to The balbec in the morning
Frosty and crisp morning here in Limerick, with a watery sun flooding the Golden Vale. From the rural peace, weâll head for the atmosphere-less Gaelic Grounds where the hurlers of Kilmallock and Cratloe will create their own heat.
Many see this as a straight battle between the silken skills of the Cratloe inside-forwards and the somewhat shaky Kilmallock fullback line but thereâs a lot more to it than that. Recent weather will slow the pitch right down and will give the Balbec rearguard a little more time to deal with hings. Itâs going to be a day for strong men and the influence of Conor Ryan will be key. The return of Liam Walsh will be a huge boost for Kilmallock and will free Paudie OâBrien to operate further up the field, probably at the expense of young Hanley, who will surely be seen before the hour is out. The Balbecâs bench was key the last day against Sars with Paddy OâLoughlin and Conor Barry doing well when introduced.
We all know what McGrath, the Collins brothers and McInerney are capable of. The key for Kilmallock will be cutting off their supply, much of which is dictated by the aforementioned Ryan. Iâm hearing Robbie Egan is fit and will start and I expect that heâll move in on Ryan under a lot of puckout and breaking ball. If Kilmallock can win this battle theyâll be a long way there, providing that Eoin Ryan, Gavin OâMahony and the Mulcahy brothers are picking up those breaks.
Itâs a hard one to call between two fine teams. I just feel Kilmallock are that bit fresher and may have the legs on Cratloe in the final 10 minutes.
The Balbec by 2 or 3.

Epic game. So many twists and turning points. Looked like theyâd be blitzed after the first ten minutes but from then on I thought they were the better team even if Cratloe always looked dangerous and more likely to grab goals. Last ditch defending prevented another couple of goals. Cratloe (obviously) were gone in extra time, still an amazing achievement to win the county double. Podge Collins did little enough.
Portaferry in the semi final now. Loughiel beat Na Piarsaigh a couple of years back so canât take it for granted, especially with Gavin OâMahony suspended.
Great win for Glin in the junior football too.
His head seems to be wedged firmly up his own hole.
He could do with keeping a lower profile for a while alright. In the papers last week doing more promotion work for AIB. Actually he seems to be in the papers most weeks giving interviews.
Every headline is Cratloe and Podge Collins⌠He works for AIB in fairness so i would imagine he had no choice for that.
Fuck yourself. He is a thoroughly alright sort.
Did he sign your hurley or something?
They rode the same bird.
you wouldnât even know he was an intercounty hurler.
Ah you would, Podge Collins is a unique enough name and anyone who has any grĂĄ for hurling would know a Clare man named Podge Collins was nominated for YHOTY and HOTY as well as winning an All Star just over 12 months ago. It wouldnt be too difficult put this together and conclude that theyâre one and the same player.
Would you stop, he has every deli lady in East Clare told ffs.
Turkey shoot at the GG in the first half. Na P 14 - Kilmallock 4.
not a surprise
1-23 to 6. Normal order is restored.
We have enough won for this year. Our U16s were decent so I expect that we will be at the business end of the competition again next year.
