OK a draw I thought ye were bad
Agree. Undefeated.
Weâre ye
Were ye
For all the stick waterford management team have come into from their own, there is talent there thatâs for sure and munster is wide open any of the 5 teams have the potential to win it and thatâs being fair
Downed will not be back tell mid march
Still we sent out a team of children to take on a crowd that fancies themselves as All Ireland winners and they couldnât beat us.
Lolz
Jim-Bob is an absolutely warrior of a man, such an intelligent hurler, and dragged us back into that game. If we had him from the start, I think weâd have won it, he was that good.
Would agree with dodgy in that if we had any of Hannon, Dowling, Downes, Mulcahy, even Breen or Tobin, it would have made a huge difference to our attack which was pretty blunt, bar Gavin. Not sure Begley is up to it, Adrian Breen never really got the better of his man, Lynch seemed to struggle to get onto the ball although he showed a few nice touches at the same time. Tactics were very very one-dimensional in the first half⌠just land it down on top of Begley and it didnât work at all after the first penalty.
In the end, we had momentum and arguably should have won it⌠I thought we had done it after a monster score from Richie Mc. But Waterford looked decent- nice, nippy team and they get their heads up with good stickwork. Seem to be moving in the right direction but I thought De Búrca was head and shoulders above everyone else on the field.
Tadgh Bourke is probably the best under 21 in Ireland this year. Was he centre or wing back?
We were poor tonight⌠Very poor. I know we were missing our whole forward line but the game plan, or lack of, was shocking. Waterford were slick and well drilled in comparison. Pumping long ball in on top of that light forward line suited Waterford all night long⌠On the plus side, a lot of guys got minutes tonight that wouldnât have if we hadnât so many injuries. What happened Breen, injured in warm up? Lynch, Begley and young Breen were not up to speed at all, a big step up for them tonight. Reidy was a bit better and Morrissey did alright. At least they stood up in the second half and got stuck in.
Centre-back for the most part; he seemed to be sweeping up beyond the half-back line an awful lot too. Gavin did score 0-5 from play but I donât think he was directly marking him a lot of the time.
He cleaned up every loose ball though, the ball broke out from Begley, Reidy & Breen an awful lot and he was onto every one.
None of last yearâs starting forwards played today, only two of the 6 today will be starting players come summer. Dowling or Hannon starting would have won us the match. Disagree on Lynch. Couldnât win enough ball in a malfunctioning forward line but did loads of things well. Heâs class. I hope Morrissey gets more gametime, he could be a good impact sub come summer. Breen was coming back from injury but wasnât fully right yet.

The ball wouldnât have stuck to that full forward line if it was made of shite.
Lynch was better second half but a few times in the first half he was leisurely while in positionâŚnot having a pop, games like tonight will stand to them.
Well there was a bit of unwarranted arrogance been bandied about here the other day regards Limerick beating waterford - waterford havenât gone away thatâs for sure, we have some of the best young hurlers in the country and a very good man in charge despite what some (west) waterford people think, still smarting over Scully Ryan getting the road, alls to play for in munster this year
That was a fairly substandard Limerick team tonight, mate. Chill.
First off, I was very impressed with Waterford. They were very sharp, their striking was excellent. Their movement off the ball was excellent and they created some brilliant scores. They were almost at full strength and were clearly very much tuned in and up for the game. They will be a force to be reckoned with very soon.
And we were poor. Our game plan was awful. Ball after ball lumped in on top of a big lad who simply does not have the hurling for this level. Handling 1 ball out of 10 is not justification for Begley to be at 14. Impact sub if we are in need of a goal at most. When he plays at 14 we tend to just fuck the ball in high and long, and it doesnt stick.
Adrian Breen was disappointing. Niall Moran very poor and didnt last long. Cathal King was poor, fumbled 4 balls in a row and 2 ended up as scores. I thought Dodge was poorest i have seen him in a long time.
However the senior player i would consider to be in gravest danger of losing his jersey is Wayne Mac. I thought he was very slow and cumbersome in all he did. Caught in posession loads of times. Hickey had a poor 1st half but was good in 2nd.
Positives; Nicky was rock solid again. Walsh had his best game since Tipp 2013. Richie is fucking brilliant.
I thought Condon was superb at wing back. His all-action style brings much needed bite to that position. Tom can hurl, his hurling ability is often under-rated. Browne was excellent. Lynch found the step-up tough but his flashes of brilliance were a joy to behold. He is going to play a big role for us on hard ground. Showed super attitude and work rate.
Gavin is putting a strong shout in for No.11 jersey. Great brain and well able to take scores, 0-5 from play tonight.
David Reidy had a fine game, won his own ball and showed well when the rest of forwards were not functioning. His 2nd Penalty was unreal, 1 step up and sent a rocket to the top corner, unstoppable.
Jimbob was clearly not 100%, in his first few runs he was carrying the leg but he had a huge influence. Some hero. Tom & Dan Morrissey did well when they came on aswell.
Agree with pretty much everything you say bar this. Wayne did get caught in possession a good few times, which is really frustrating, itâs always been a weakness of his game. But he did hold the centre well, he cut out a lot of ball, he used his strength to win dirty ball quite a bit and had some nice passes to set up scores. He needs to cut out the errors but I donât think he did his chances of starting centre-back again this season any harm.
I also donât think Dodge was that bad, he was alright if not brilliant.

Wayne was very poor against UCC and was almost as bad tonight. You cant play a lad at 6 who is directly responsible for 2 or 3 points a game through mistakes/fumbling. I like him as a player, he is whole hearted. But if he doesnât cut out those mistakes id be concerned for him to be honest.
Dodge is better at 6 than on the wing. He was poor tonight i thought but i have no worries about him come May

I wasnât at the UCC game but heard he got cleaned alright.
I like Dodge at 6, but he was still taken for 5 points by Cian McCarthy. He wasnât directly man-marking him but if he is going to play as a deeper centre-back, then he will need much better protection because if McCarthy can get 0-5, what would someone like Tony Kelly score off him? I would prefer to have Wayne on the wing than in the centre, but Iâm just not sure who we should turn to?
