Limerick v Clare AI Semi-Final

A privilege to watch a Clare team play like that in Croke Park. Hard to know what to say about it, just a great, great day. There’s so much raw talent in these young lads it’s frightening at times. We felt that we had the players to win the game if it was open enough for them to express themselves and that’s how it turned out. Some of the scores like those Tony Kelly got today though, that’s even more than you could wish for.

Hard luck to all the Limerick lads, a bitter pill to swallow. Feeling like you never performed makes losing all the worse and Limerick just never got any momentum at all today. Hopefully this is just the beginning of things for both teams and we’ll have many more battles on centre stage in the years to come.

A great vindication for Davy over those who wanted rid of him only a few weeks ago.

Great day for Davy alright, Clare are lucky to have him in charge of those young lads.

Except when Cork find a way around his sweeper system and expose the flaws in Clare.

Is there a secret map out there that they’re searching for?

The only way Davy will win over the doubters is if he names biddy early corner forward for the final and wins. Good post by balbec. Limerick need to regroup , great day, no other clash has cars with supporters wearing both sets of colours. Limerick will be back and could well beat clare next year , that’s the Shannon derby.

This was our revenge for '55, it only took us 55 years to get

RIP jimmy smyth

Tony Kelly  holy fuck

Fair play KC, I’m finally a believer. I’m fuckin sick at that loss but Banner abĂș for the final.

Makes a real interesting final. It’s pretty hard to gauge so much of this years hurling. Galway were shit against Dublin and Clare, Cork had 3 games where a sending off affected the run of the game.

Clare were really really good, but while most of that was application, great skill and sticking to the plan, a good chunk of it was dreadful Limerick tactics, poor touch and awful option taking. Adding in the selfishness of a few players an woeful free taking and it creates another side to the game.

Allen looked to me as confused and our maneuvered as he did in 2006. This is always a danger with Allen as I don’t think he’s a very good “on the day” tactical type of manager. Mind you I am still to be convinced Davy is either. Whatever about 2006 when KK came with something new there was nothing new about Clare’s tactics so he even got the pre planning wrong. However a manager can only bring them so FR, Limerick players did not hurl well and didn’t play their roles either, that’s the bottom line.

Clare’s hurling and style has come on and is more efficient than earlier in year when they were doing alot of over playing. Davy deserves alot of credit for adjusting that and also for getting them to the pitch they were at yesterday.

He’s still a horrible little man who’s carry in and ignorance to media and on the sideline is embarrassing.

Alot will be made of tactics for the final, but JBM doesn’t coach sides allowing for the opposition. He makes good hurlers of them and gives them confidence as well as coaching the right thing to do in certain situations. Cunningham looks after everything else.

Clare playing that extra man against Cork might be slightly back-fire-able with Conor O Sullivan being a brilliant free man and Corks long rang

It’s clear Cork and Clare will completely dominate the All Stars.

Limerick are close to or not far off as good as they get. There is only so much you can get out of players and these are the same players more or less for last few years. It would seem likely Allen might walk away happy bringing them to Munster which is arguably all they were ever going to win.

It’s absolutely incredible how much Limerick supporters got carried away, and always do, with one result. The Cork game fell really well for them and I always felt they got too much credit for it. It’s clear now they did, as satisfying as it must have been for them.

The lay off from provincial finals might be even more of an issue with the hurling. Something has to be done to even things up. This is another example of a provincial win almost being a hindrance.

Can’t wait to watch this tonight. Sorry for all the Limerick lads here (will we ever see Renton again?). @balbec is a gentleman.

But fair fucks to Clare, to Davy

I am supremely jealous of you boys, getting to experience such a championship first hand i8n such beautiful weather.

Fuck emigrating.

I love’s the oul hurling :clap::clap::pint:

Conlon is a far better player than Dwyer. What they have in common is strength and a good paw, after that there is no comparison. Conlon is just better in every other department.

Disillusioned and disappointed. I wouldn’t even know where to begin so I won’t bother.

Clare were fantastic to a man, thoroughly deserving winners, I hope they drive on now and win it.

We were sat next to the benches, poor Hannon was in tears at the end, really took it bad. Plenty of the Clare lads trying to console him but a tough day for him.

Overall, that will hurt for a while.

You Limerick boys are taking it like men, no excuses, fair play to you Renton.

Sometimes, you just got to take your medicine, pal.

We lost the halftime entertainment too, what a cunt of a day.

It may seem bad now, pal. But Reeva Steenkamp would have been 30 today.

Least ye got to enjoy the Munster final.

Nerves pure and simple I think. Must watch the game again because my initial impression was that Clare played well and took great scores but game was v loose and Lmk had huge amount of ball. John Allen will take plenty stick but it was just horrible shooting display more than anything else killed any momentum. Richie Mc was ripe for what happened with that goal alright, madness letting his man get inside like that

Another major loss of composure there as it turned out. Technique broke down under the pressure in croke park.
