I thought he was shite but I think I just have to accept that certain rules are ignored in intercounty hurling

He let it flow for the most part and facilitated a great game but then made some bizarre called and non calls. The free he gave Mike Casey bring a prime example, he had left a dozen similar tackles go at that point but blew for the free just because Casey ended up on the ground

It was a thing of beauty @Johnbird must have been cursing the @Limericks when the class was all too evident for him.

it’s become clear a hurling referee is there to “facilitate a great game” rather than apply any particular rules.

A matter for a different day but is there an argument to make the sliotar heavier.

I’ve being arguing for a heavier sliothar for years

Hurling is turning into basketball with fellas throwing 3 pointers from way downtown. Now you have corner backs throwing points over from fun from their own 70. The yanks love high scoring sports no wonder Bill Murray was going to all the games this year

Years ago juiced up lads were throwing javelins so far they were going beyond the infield. So they changed the javelin Centre of gravity so they would not travel as far.

There’s a parallel there I can’t quite grasp.

Morrissey’s throw to Hayes for a point on the 63rd min was as fucking blatant as I’ve ever seen. :joy:

There was a Kilkenny one where the player didn’t even bother to go underhand.

When?

David Blanchfield was excellent when he came on. I remember him playing very well against Wexford in the Leinster U20 final of 2019. Is he a brother of Liams?

I was over a hundred yards away in the Davin and I could see it plain as day. Some referees just don’t bother blowing up for it

Thought Lyons was a bit laissez faire with the rules at times.

Steps, high tackles, throw balls & players lying on the ball.

Myself and @Batigol turned to each other after that and agreed that he should have made some attempt to disguise it.

The Limerick throwing is beyond farcical at this stage especially coming out of defence.

I would like to say GOAT corner back Sean Finn does not.

It’s a real pity referees didn’t stick to calling the foul instead of listening to dictionary Derek and co.
