Ah Neville and Carragher are better pundits in my opinion. Keane always just moans “he’s 5 yards off his man there”, “not good enough”, “that player was just walking back”. He’s box office but Carragher and Neville provide more nuanced opinions I feel.
He had Liverpool’s number this year though it has to be said.

Roy Keane shows only a basic understanding of the game as a pundit but people are too harsh on his managerial record. Did a solid job with Sunderland. Should have taken the Celtic offer in 2014. Too loyal in that instance.

Bizarre. Keane is an excellent pundit. Some lads here jizzing themselves regularly over expected goals and Naby Lad’s supposedly amazing stats when in truth what Keane says strikes at the heart of nearly every professional sport. Working like fucking dogs for your team mates and doing your job will get you there 90% of the time. He continually questions Liverpool’s attitude/performance this year cos it’s so poor.

He’s an entertaining pundit but he’s more interested in winding up his fellow pundits & the viewers. He loves getting under the skin of the other pundits, most of all the Liverpool ones like Carragher.

He had a great segment with Carra where they were picking a combined team between Liverpool 2020 and Man United 1999. For every marginal call he selected the United player because “he couldn’t leave out one of his teammates”.

Picking Giggs who scored 3 league goals that season because he was “a great lad in the trenches”. A good pundit and I enjoy him, but not a great pundit.

There was clip where that sky sports presenter asked Roy Keane who would win the man united team of 99 or the Liverpool 19/20 side.

Keane replied: “man united one nil.”

The sky sports presenter replies “only one nil?”

Keane replies: “yes we are all in our forties and fifties now”

It was wonderful.

I don’t think any serious Liverpool fan regard them as an all time great team. If they win another league then maybe you can start the conversation but for now they’ve had a brilliant three years and delivered some big silverware.
