Would it not have been Comolli’s predecessor (who escapes me), as opposed to Hodgson, who hammered out the specifics of the contract with Cole’s agent?
Purslow. They were both to blame.
20 years ago today (couldn’t find the thread) Liverpool came back from 3 down at home to Man Utd to draw 3-3. Clough x 2 and Ruddock got the equalizer.
And where are they now? Clough a below average manager, Ruddock an overweight oaf on a reality tv show.
No way was that game in January. It was around St Patrick’s Day / Easter and it wasn’t in 1993 either. Check again. :guns:
When is Fabio Borini back?
It was in January but it was 1994.
Sorry pal, it was indeed 94. I remember getting the kick off time wrong and me and mates snuck into the pub to find us already 3 down. Those were the days when Utd fans were coming out of the wood work and pubs were generally full for big games like this. The banter between older lads was great and all the better when Ruddock scored.
He is back in full training next week and I am looking forward to it… The ever knowledgeable Dunph tried to dismiss him as a failure earlier… But as I was just reading on another forum… It’s symptomatic of the modern football fan to rush to judgement on players without ever really thinking much about the situation the player is in. Borini is a prime example of this: He was a young lad, just turned 21, in a team which was right at the beginning of a cycle, with a new manager, and wasn’t performing to a high level.
He had never started a game in the Premier League, had just come from Italy, and didn’t know his team mates. We’renottalking about a veteranstriker who has been playing in the Premier League for years, like Van Persie. We’renoteven talking about a player with loads of experience in a top-level team in Europe, like Suarez or Torres.
Borini is a talent, but a young talent who showed his quality for Roma. His movementissuperb, hecan finish, but it’ll take time to fit into a new league, new team and into a side which is only just starting to find its feet. With that said, I think it’s probably fair to give him more than five league games before he’s written off as a dud.
Borini was best for Rome when he played up front alongside Osvaldo, I think he’s best when played beside a physical striker. His movement is top class indeed and it is his best attribute along with his tireless running. Rodgers has to stop playing him out on the wing though, he doesn’t have the technical skills to play as a wide man, get him to play close to goal and he will seek out chances, I expect the goals to flow once he gets a bit of confidence and belief in himself - excuse the cliche. He reminds me of Inzaghi in many ways.
Would be good if someone with a bit of time on their hands could dig up the thread that discussed Joe Cole’s move to Liverpool
Shaping up to be a good January for Liverpool, the squad badly need attacking options and the extra competition should make the players more focused. In essence the arrival of Sturridge, the possible incoming transfer of Ince and the return from injury of Borini will be a major boost.
I think Liverpool need some new faces in midfield as far as I’m concerned. Lucas has not yet settled after his lay off from injury, Allen’s form has suffered lately and Gerrard is still done as far as I’m concerned. Shelvey and Henderson are average players. Liverpool should be doing everything they can to get Holtby signed in January. Benat is another player who would do very well at Liverpool.
The names of each of the victims of the Hillsborough disaster will be placed on 96 seats that separate the two sets of fans at today’s game.

I read this being lauded in various media as a wonderful gesture. Seems a sort of low key and irrelevant memorial to me. No harm in it obviously but it’s hardly achieving anything, nor is it a tremendous example of goodwill or anything.

Jack Robinson has been at the end of dogs abuse after his performance at the weekend and in particular for telling Suarez to fuck off. Some suggesting he may have been transfer listed over it. No harm if he has, he wont make it anyway.
He told Suarez to fuck off? Really?
What a cunt.
After he blasted a shot into row z instead of passing it across the goal to allow the king a simple tap in. Luis muttered a few words of annoyance to him and the the young lad roared at him to fuck off!
