I won’t, it’s hilly as fuck around here and I have a stone in weight put on in a month. It will be a slog. I’d be confident that two of three runs and the time will tumble down though - just have to suffer through blowing out the dirty diesel first
I created the segment myself lads so it might be cheating. Its a steep enough back lane that wouldn’t have much footfall on it but I wanted to figure out the elevation of it and creating a segment was the easiest way to do it.
Ah I kinda made it up as I went along, I was only intending to do 5k but added bits on as I went along.
I’d regularly do the pier, seafront and or Sandycove but you can get tired of that too. Killiney hill and Kilgobbet park are great but not in the dark. Must do the west pier again soon actually and down to seapoint
if youre thinking of a long run, go along sandycove, up through dalkey, onto sorrento park, taking a quick breather to enjoy the view from bray to howth and back into dalkey via coliemore road.
I used to do something similar to that during the summer, park the car at Coliemore harbour, up the hill to sorrento terrace, up Dalkey hill through the quarry, down to the car park and then back up Killiney hill. Out the other side and back down the Vico road. If I wanted to really push myself, there’s a small gate halfway down the vico road where you can get back into and up to Killiney hill car park and from there make your way whatever way you want back to Coliemore.
If I wanted to go a longer distance would park in Sandycove and get a swim in at the end.
That was my favourite run of lockdown. It’s not easy get decent off road running around here but that’s a very good hybrid
Better tonight… First 5k last week was 29.27… tonight was 28.43… to use @Big_Dan_Campbell’s apt description, I’m still chugging up a bit if dirty diesel but felt better tonight… Slight twinge at the top of calf right behind the outside of knee towards the end so that will be stiff when I cool down… I’ll have to break out the foam roller. 14k of planned 50k done.
