Exactly. Everyone who runs it is a winner.
Except those that donāt win it. They are losers.
If youāre not first, youāre last.

Iād kill myself trying to beat 17 minutes if I started at this shit
Youāre a very competitive man. It emboldens you and keeps you back at the same time.
Iād imagine itās borderline impossible for a lad in his 40s who never ran before to run a 5k in 17 minutes
Itās not about beating someone elseās fasst time. Itās about finding someone else as slow as you and beating them. @Fran and @Thomas_Brady had a grand duel last year
Who won?
There were no winners or losers, just losers
Happy to be your punch bag palā¦ Itās just about getting out getting some exercise.
Iāll batter you , you cunt.
Depends on background. Did he play football or GAA?
We had a lad who was a long distance runner on one of the universities playing for midleton seniors. A nice chap. Like a cheetah. Lovely running style. Iād try keep up with him on preseason runs and i reckon i had the lungs for him but his stride was so efficient.
Youād get to sub 18 with your background if the body could hold up to training.
I canāt do concrete.
Hit the trails mate.
Friend of mine who played soccer and football up to 18 took up running in his mid 30s. He now runs in national competitions and was to go to Finland for some international one, obviously now cancelled. Although heāll now be eligible for over 40s when the next one comes up. He ran a 3k in 9 mins recently, his best 5k is 16.30 or so. It certainly can be done, but wouldnāt be common.
I started running at 44, if I improved my diet, got the weight down and trained smart Iād say I could trouble 17
Definitely and combined with specific training.
If @TreatyStones committed to train properly for 6 months, Iām convinced heād go sub 18.
minutes or inches?
Iām 40 this year and was probably as fit last summer than have been in 4 or 5 years. Took it up in 2012 and improved my times for first 3 or 4 years and then it tapered off. I could possibly break 17 if I did specific 5k training but I prefer the longer distances. Iām in a club too which helps a lot. Running intervals and tempos solo is hard work and thereās a good group within the club around my pace.
Club makes a massive difference.
