Mad Men
Nice little cameo from Neve Campbell as well.

Megan is clearly riding someone else as well - probably Campbell given the way he said he’d been meaning to drop by to see her.

Still think it’s cuntish to split the final season into 7 and 7 though. Hard to get excited about 7 episodes.
true detectives was only 8 in total

might make writing even sharper though and given Mad Men is theatre you get the final act in two parts

Agreed with all of that apart from the first sentence, because I haven’t seen it yet.

I’ve just got into this the last few weeks out of boredom and as every episode of every season is available on sky on demand. I’m nearly finished season three and must say i’m enjoying it, it’s very easy watching and surprising addictive. Don Draper is a quare hawk.

there are layers and layers to every episode
You forget how damn good this is when you step away from it for a bit, what a return, grabbed you from the moment with Freddie’s opening pitch. Unequalled.

I’m just watching the episode here in season 5 where Pete Campbell and Lane Pryce had a fight in the board room while Don and Roger overlooked. Terrific stuff.

@briantinnion what are you making of the most recent season?

I’m enjoying it so far. Wasn’t sure what to make of the new Don, and definitely didnt want to see him accept the terms laid down to him to return to SCDP, but now he’s back and kicking tyres (the tobacco pitch was classic Draper) I’m buying what they’re selling so to speak. Great to see Freddy back, and of course Pete Campbell and his hot piece of ass realtor

Some excellent little asides so far too, the Betty/Bobby trip to the farm was a nice little add on, if obviously only there to keep Betty in the loop. All in all a sterling opening to the opening half of the final season.

Oh, and the threesome, Don is back

Nice cameo from Meadow Soprano as well.

Who was Meadow Soprano? I think this season has been excellent. A few very funny moments. Sally Draper has had a couple of excellent scenes. Don’s tobacco pitch was really good. Bob Benson back too - had forgotten about him.

Apologies, not Meadow Soprano, Sidney Prescott, ie Neve Campbell.

The girl playing Sally has turned into a wonder actress, there’s been a real coming together of her and Don, as much to do with her pulling away from Betty.

The scene with Bob Benson and the guy from Chevy was brilliantly played out.

Wonderful episode. Scene in the fast food place with Don, Peggy and Pete was magnificent.

Pete bringing Don back into the fold. The subtlety of Megan and Don’s breaking apart.

A show which rewards a second viewing is very rare. Mad Men is so good because it is not plot driven but character based and is so nuanced and subtle.

could do with more betty in this season

Megan is wonderful.

Sorry, her teeth, I just can’t get past that mess of a mouth.

I’d get over it. Is Betty still fat? I’m on series 5 at the moment.

Betty has manage to reign it back in, but has serious food issues as poor Bobby found out this season.

You see Glas? We can agree sometimes.

I really like what has happened to Peggy since Don took his take it or leave it demotion. She liked the idea of being his boss but was really struggling with it at the same time. I loved Don’s advice to her when she lost the plot over her burger pitch “first thing I do is shout at my friends then I have a nap”.

Constant quality

She gets her jabs out in Hot Tub Time Machine. They’re pretty impressive. @farmerinthecity would love them.

Have just finished season 7 part one. Final episode was very entertaining but I think they’ve struggled from having to spread the series over two parts. Certain episodes felt a bit labored.

In saying that it’s still the best show on the box by some distance. I’ll be watching the series a second time round before I make up my mind and give it a formal rating out of ten.

Was wonderful to see Pete and Roger back on form in the final episode though.

That episode was very good but the end of it didn’t work at all.
