That’s it in a nutshell for me, a stupid mistake, dangerous even, but my God, few people suffer so much for their mistakes,

i dont think they killed their daughter , what i do believe is that someone knew their routine , was watcing their movements every night and knew they abandoned their kids to go out drinking with friends- this then culiminated in someone sneaking in to that appartment and sbduicting that child,
Now, in the event the mother adminsitrated something to the kids to help them sleep this would certainly i imagine help the anductors cause, i dont know but in the event that they have refused to allow the other 2 children be drug tested its a huge smoking gun- again - i dont believe in any way they were involved in a motive for disappearance and are clearly bloody distraught - but they are reaponsible for woeful neglect and any evidence that showed they put the kids to sleep would be lapped up by the red tops who are the ones trying the various suspects in the court of public opinion,
@flattythehurdler @gilgamboa and a few lads have posted excellently here- the parents will take abandonig the child to the grave and whilst their may be a case to be made against them for neglect they are living with horrific consequences
the holiday head as lads have described it can do funny things , yeah you might have a beer by the pool or let the kids stay up all night but good fuck ( and yes i will be a judgememantal cunt here ) you do not abandon them in an appartment whilst you go out drinking

My life partner watched that Netflix documentary about this case last year. I grudgingly watched it too, but wasn’t paying full attention. I (helpfully) can’t cite too many specifics but it seemed clear and obvious to me that the parents had absolutely no part in it. Most of the tabloid “revelations” from time to time that kind of threw a suspecting light on them were easily dispelled and that well worn tactic of taking snippets out of context and repackaging them to portray the McCanns in the worst possible light, e.g. stuff about child’s scent in the rental car etc.

They mcmanns were accused simply because of their Upper class status.
It’s not a stupid mistake.
It’s child negligence. The McCanns were the guardians of those children, they strolled off for a few hours to have a few drinks with the friends, leaving a pair of toddlers and a 3 year old unattended.
It’s not as if they nipped out of to the car to get something for 5 minutes.
Tell me this, would you ever in a million years contemplate leaving your own kids when they were 2 or 3, unsupervised and unattended for a number of hours to go out for drinks with friends?

Theory: they dosed Maddie up with Calpol before they went out on the piss. Maddie took a severe allergic reaction and died while they were away. If the parents were in the room they would have seen what was happening and saved her. Extreme allergic reactions to Calpol / paracetamol are very rare but do occur.

Anyone can make a mistake
So they mistakenly drugged her and her siblings, she mistakenly died, they mistakenly threw the lifeless corpse of their 3 year old child in the boot of a rental car then mistakenly buried it
