Looks like Barcelona are digging in and refusing to pay him. If they manage to register their new signings then I reckon Utd move on but not until then.

Itâs an interesting game of cat and mouse between club and player.
Itâs shoddy out from Barcelona to be going down that route with players who in good faith deferred wages but the club must go on.

If he does end up staying itâs a strained relationship at best and Barcelona have 3 or 4 players they cannot register, so itâs something both sides need to sort.

According to the La Liga journos the main issue is that De Jong has no interest in leaving Barcelona rather than them not paying him

Itâs been reported that if he looks for a move then they donât have to pay him the wages that were deferred.
So if he agreed to personal terms with Utd before sorting out the back pay then Barcelona are off the hook for âŹ13m.
