Manchester United 2024-2025

I can’t fathom the centrehalf thing either.

It smacks of weakness

There’s a line leaked from one of Solskjaer’s scouts now departed that says they were astounded by the actual quality of DeLigt’s defensive play. Astounded.

In a good way?

If they don’t give the job to Tuchel they’re nuts

I was told a good while back that they were looking at potter, but couldn’t really believe that. I know that dB and Southgate are pals, but dB is an outstanding drainpipe shinning underpants sniffer interested only in his own empire, so I’d not read much into it.
I know Southgate is very fondly thought of at OT, but the fans would turn on him in a second. He’d have been hounded out years ago had he had ten flags record, and you wouldn’t necessarily give the manager’s job to someone you liked. Southgate is a genuinely lovely man, and I don’t believe you can or could play at the level he did without being a hardy bastard. I think he would settle the squad and they’d play well under him tbh.

Completely the opposite. Basically implied that he was pulling a caravan and made a career out of beating his chest and geeing up the crowd at Ajax. They did say he was tidy on the ball though. Evans looks like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson standing next to him.

Would there be a trophy for that?

As opposed to setting worst start ever records and finishing sixth or somesuch?

It’s like graham hunter unwilling to pick a Classico winner because he’d such great friends in both the Barcelona and Real Madrid dressing rooms.

I think that’s 4 clean sheets in 7 games for Onana. Given the carnage thats been going on all around him he’s doing better again this season.

If there’s a more insidious treacherous bastard of specimen than a genuinely lovely man, I’ve yet to encounter it.

There’s not a hope it’ll be Ruud long term. It would be too much like the Solskjaer situation. These interim managers, former greats, having a few good results and being made permanent never work out. Ineos are too smart to fall for that one, or at least they like to put forth that they’re too smart. Ruud was a great player, but he hasn’t pulled up trees as a manager yet. He had one year at PSV where they came second that’s it. He was out of work for 12 months when Ten Hag brought him on board. The only reason Ruud is favourite for next manager market is he will have to step in for a while, and by the betting rules if you are interim manager for 10 matches they settle you as a winner in the next manager market. He will not be manager in August next year for example but it remains to be seen if the new man is brought in within the 10 matches or not - I guess that would be approximately 45/50 days to sort it. Ineos will go for a statement appointment next time there will be a small list of top names they will want IMO

My suspicion is the manager they want isn’t available tbh.

Who is that then? Everyone has a price.

I was listening to second captains earlier and they’d some fella talking to the lads about next Utd manager, he said David Ornstein did a piece on it and says Southgate isn’t on the radar. Anyone have Ornsteins thoughts?

People assume the right manager is out there. It’s very possible he’s not.

They don’t grow trees. There’s rarely more than five or six really great managers out there.

The man United job is incredibly tough too. I like
Thiago motta has he played at several big clubs and has made a good start to his career but it’s early days.
