Manchester United 21/22

Pogba did make that mistake against Switzerland that led to the goal but he was outstanding in the game in general

What I find incredible is that this world class pivot player was selected on the bench for a massive Champions League match when the existing pivots are generally considered not to up it.

I don’t know any great player who has been as consistently ineffective in as many games as pogba has been. He’d be the ideal PSG man. Gallop through the midfield and perform a few flicks and tricks while beating Brest but he’ll play a lead role in the annual champions League meltdown. The ultimate player of dubious character.

But again, he was a key player in a Juventus team that reached the Champions League final and a key player that won the World Cup with France.

If Pogba was in a Klopp or Guardiola team he’d be a world beater. Under Conte and Allegri and for a short while under a fading Mourinho he was excellent.

Like PSG, Manchester United as a club is run as a circus. It is a fundamentally unserious organisation. Until that changes nothing will change, even as the players change.

I agree with all that about united but pep or klopp wouldnt have him anywhere near their club in my opinion. He’s simply not the type of character they’d sign despite all his talent. He was a major part of the problem at united. When he is your marquee main man you are fucked. We’ll see who signs him next and how he does.

Pep signed Zlatan and Grealish.

Pogbas up for free in the summer let’s see if pep or klopp will consider him.

It is indeed incredible

They obviously won’t because i) Liverpool and Manchester City are Manchester United’s two main rivals and direct transfers between the two simply don’t happen and ii) Pogba is 29 and carries a massive wage bill.

The point is that up until 2016, Pogba’s star was only going one way. He then fell into a crisis club which was run as a circus. Had, say, Klopp taken over United in 2017 or 2018 when Pogba was there, the chances are he would have revitalised him. To make it to where Pogba made it, you have to be a professional in the way you do things. But things can tail off. You can lose motivation if you’re allowed to. Circumstances can dictate. The longer you rest on your laurels, the harder it is to get out that slump. That’s where good coaching comes in and at no stage in the last nine years have Manchester United had that.

As it is, Pogba has spent the last six years as part of a circus. At 29, it’s going to be very hard for him to get out of that slump.

It seems like we both agree that pogba was a promising player with the potential to be great. However it turns out he’s gone to absolute shite and we both think it’s unlikely hell ever be a great player at this stage. We may as well enjoy the sunshine.

Pogba is a Rolls Royce of a player, a supreme talent. That he has not consistently shone as brightly as he could have is down to circumstance and coaching.

Without Klopp, Jordan Henderson might well have been back at Sunderland playing out his last couple of seasons by now. Circumstance and coaching.

He’s a useless cunt

Paul keeps wanting out, and United keep bandaging this with wads of cash as they are too up themselves to let him go.
Good luck to him. He’s wasted six years of his career making scores of millions.

You’d wonder is there something more at play regarding this Pogba issue at united. You’d hope not.

Not a direct transfer. He’s out of contract and free to sign fir who he likes, just like Tevez was.

Pogba was no more influential on that French side yhan Matuidi. On his day he’s an excellent number 8 but not a player youd build a team around. In the right system with a decent number 6, or two, he can excel as he has less responsibility. Unfortunately he never really had that at Utd bar maybe one season with Matic.

That is all complete bollox of reasoning.

You’re absolving Pogba of any responsibility.

Is there any chance of tuchel going to united?

Can’t see him walking away from Chelsea. The UK Govt wont let them go bust.

How?

The buck stops with the manager and the people who run the club.

They have been hapless.

So the performance of the world’s most expensive player at the time on a ridiculous salary is the responsibility of the manager?
