I could have told you that
Hoi!!
There’s no way you are a Pallas man!
Why did you ask me so?
Just took a walk there at lunch time, down by the Locke, up by St Marys Cathedral and up Nicholas St to the castle.
There is serious potential in that route. It’s pity Nicholas St is half abandoned. I met a steady flow of tourists. Surely there is potential for a few seasonal businesses to go in there?
@ChocolateMice
Is this place open?
is that down across from the Cauldron?
It is ya
Think that used to be The Rock. Is Stix still open?
Would you eat/drink in the Locke much?
You have filtered out mention of all the scumbags that hang around there too.
The Rock bar is still open yes… was a great bar back in the 70s/80s - big Star Rovers bar… suffered a bit during the Tiger years with a rough crowd - back serving salt of the earth types now.
Whys that, pal?
A history app of Limerick would also be great to give a guided tour along the route…might re-inforce how great the area is again.
I heard they’ve given the crescent planning permission for further expansion. Will they ever fucking learn the city centre is a ghost town. The redevelopment around by where Arthur’s quay and revenue are will improve things but FFS would they not stop expanding the crescent in the meantime.
It looks shut up but I could hear people inside having the bants when I was walking past. The Claudron also sounded lively.
It’s been a while since I was in there… but I believe they had a caged door and camera at one stage it got so bad but it’s grand out these days… you’d hear noise coming from there on Christmas day and good Friday… the Cauldron was another great Limerick bar full of old school types back in the day… fuck knows what it is like now. The auld fella was involved with Star for years back in the 80s so i’d have been in those bars after big games swamping TK and ateing Taytos.
Is Dick Devanes/The Mucky Duck still open?
Stix is still open. Walked past it recently with the Mrs and commented on how it was always a place I wanted to go into as a young lad when we were passing through Limerick. She thought that was hilarious as she was there many times as a youth, and said that the place was very fond of lashing on the Aromat seasoning on the chips.
I ate in there once many years ago and it was like eating a bag of aromat. Delicious at the time but I felt like shit afterwards
An aromat chip, daycent kid.
