Daly is what Limerick needs. Dee Ryan is what Limerick will get and itā€™ll be more of the same and the first thing sheā€™ll do is roll out a Limerick 2050 campaign

Thatā€™s Limerick city.

There is a bigger vote outside the city but no proper county candidate running. Such a runner could have hoovered up the 1st preferences, particularly with a gaa angle.

Any candidate that runs on fixing overcrowding in UHL will get my vote. Ban tipp and clare people firstly from the hospital them from crossing the border.

Actually rebuild the ancient walls while they are at it

Any time anyone mentioned the hospital, Hannon immediately shouted them down.

Mayor has no say whatsoever in UHL though. They have zero power/responsibility for it. I have no idea why so many candidates tonight spoke about it. Itā€™s just not part of their portfolio.

Ultimately the failings in UHL will only be corrected by a change in government policy, and hospital management standing up to the consultants who currently run it with impunity.

Think Dee Ryan and Brian Leddin were probably the winners tonight. Ryan probably needed to flesh out her policies a bit more, while Leddin wouldnā€™t answer the questions on northern distributor road or one-off housing, both of which he clearly isnā€™t a fan. John Moran has a lot between the ears, but him being not much of a ā€œpeople personā€ probably isnā€™t helping him. Thought the AontĆŗ lady Beasley came across well, seems fairly clued in, but not enough charisma.

If Frankie was even 20% more polished/composed then he would win this contest pulling up. Heā€™s the most sincere of the lot but unfortunately for him, he too often opens his mouth before engaging his brain. The PBP lad Ruari thinks free public transport in the city would workā€¦ā€¦.but like all socialists doesnā€™t seem to realise Johnny taxpayer will have to fund it. Helen Oā€™Donnell gave off fierce ā€˜North Circular Roadā€™ vibes, but didnā€™t say much of substance.

It seemed three quarters of the debate was taken up with housing. There was relatively little discussion around revitalising the city centre, which for me is the biggest challenge facing the incoming mayor.

Heā€™s not helping himself if thatā€™s not clear because I thought he was only brought into dept of finance when all the damage was done and Noonan brought him in as part of the recovery planning?

I thought it was a serious contest with an important job at stake?
Lads treating it like COTY :man_shrugging:

I didnā€™t see it but Iā€™m glad that Leddin did well, a green mayor would be class

Top notch Photoshopping from #TeamFrankie

I donā€™t think Leddin has any chance at all. His nemesis Elisa will possibly do better than him. There seems to be a serious smear campaign against him, especially by a social media account called ā€˜Limerick Against Facismā€™.
