Tis a cunt when you’ve a child asleep in the car. Just enough of a delay for them to wake up
I remember being out in Clarina when Ballybrown were hosting the Féile round robin and were using both pitches. Carnage trying to get from one to the other, particularly from the old to the new as everything was backed up on the road by the entrance and cars couldn’t get in or out.
Sounds like a lovely trek through beautiful South West Limerick
A tour of the Box Office Junior A hurling championship
I’d go the Breska road the odd time and will probably use it for a few weeks in September when there is the usual back to school chaos.
This is going on years 5/6km tail back for 1 or 2 cars coming from ballybrown. Id go through ballybrown from mungret and come out the red brick lodge. A disaster
A look at the map shows I don’t actually take the Breska Road, I take the road their soccer pitch is on. It looks like Breska itself is on the Brick Lodge side.
I had to go to a Funeral in Listowel recently and had a grand trip through the heart of South West Limerick.
Went via Emly - Knocklong - Elton - Martinstown - Kilmallock - Bruree - Rourkes Cross - Newcastlewest - Listowel.
I dont think we passed a proper town or village except for NCW, from Bruree onwards.
Then we came back via Athea, Carrykillen, Ardagh and back onto the main road near Rathkeale. Real back of beyond stuff.
How was the stuffing and wild boar chips?
You go round by Hayse’s shop
Was it Athea > Carrigkerry?
That’s a proper rural road alright.
Carrigkerry yeah that’s it. I’d never heard of it.
Real 1950’s feel to those places.
I was actually up there last week for a football match in Athea. Its a long way from anywhere
That long straight hilly road through bog and forestry is fairly iconic.
At least it runs straight.
It’s equivalent roads over in Tour and mountcollins are beyond navigation without a satnav or astrolabe.
Mountcollins soccer pitch is in some spot
Some pitch for a square of bog cut into a mountain
The first time I went there I followed the Google maps,I thought I’d never get there
That around Glensharrold? A real throwback area.
