I remember that case. Think Marilyn Rynn was on a Nitelink home to Blanchardstown after a work Christmas party. Yer man Lawler was either on the bus too or waiting in the shadows as people got off the bus. He followed her and dragged her into some undergrowth/bushes and raped and murdered her. Her body lay undiscovered for quite some time, if I recall correctly, and the very cold weather at the time was key in preserving DNA that was key in convicting him.

Highly unlikely. I’d say the reality is that the chap was misfortunate enough to give a lift to a girl who was subsequently abducted and got embroiled in a murder case. Thumbing lifts stopped being a thing around this time, not surprisingly.

Annie McCarrick went missing in South Dublin in 1993.
Jo Jo Dullard went missing in Kildare in 1995.
Deirdre Jacob went missing in Kildare in 1998.
Carlow lady is abducted in Carlow Town in 2000 by Larry Murphy from Baltinglass.
Murphy goes to jail and leaves the country. No more cases since.
