More Things That Are Wrong, just plain wrong

They were different times alright. Great times in some ways but drink is a curse really.

Some of the best rows I have ever seen were in Friday afternoons in Gort after the mart. Josieā€™s Harteā€™s, Paul Kellys Landmarkā€¦ Lads rolling in cash and no mobile phones to track them down, they stayed drinking till they literally couldnā€™t drink anymore.

Itā€™s definitely a curse the older you get

Different times is exactly the point. Lads arguing that this carryon is ok in this day and age is crazy. Its not the norm anymore, its something that should have been left in the past. This incident happened in the past year or so. Those days are gone. I hope this cunts life is in pieces, because that families is.

Agreed. That Ireland left us along time ago.

We have been moulded into rules and regulations that by and large make our lives safer.

I do lament for the men of my grandfathers generation though. They were their own bosses, took shit from nobody but yet led their lives with a healthy dose of common sense.

Sadly common sense has left this nation, and what sense was there was no doubt in short supply even back then.

Very naive to think those days are gone MBB.

You cant do that anymore. Back in the past it was a nod and wink. Those days are gone. You canā€™t drive with drink on you. Its very stupid to think you can. The younger generation didnā€™t grow up with this culture.

Unfortunately you donā€™t live in tge real world on this particular subject sid.

Many, many people would lose their jobs if they didnā€™t drive tired. Thats an unfortunate fact.

You canā€™t and never could drink and drive. But it is still done in pretty big numbers every day of the week, even if it is ā€œonlyā€ a couple of pints.

The culture of drinking and driving should not exist for the younger generation of this country. They didnā€™t grow up with it. It is different for the older generation. Those that do it in ā€œbig numbersā€ (WTF BTW?) are idiots who needlessly are endangering the lives of others on the road. I hope when they do cause an accident it is only themselves they injure or kill.

the thing thatā€™s annoys me here is fellas calling yer man this that and the other for ā€œrunningā€ FFS from the scene
the guy was locked, makes a shocking call to drive the car, falls asleep at the wheel and wakes up in this situation staring at a dead child, now im sure if he was fully sober , he wouldnt think " hey there, i think ill run away from the scene, theyā€™ll never know its me"
he was drunk FFS, the fact that he made the call to get in the car in the first place shows how fking reckless he was, how are we to say if he was sober heā€™d have done the same thing and ran away from the sceneā€¦ its almost comical
drink is a cunt of a thing., if makes fellas make shocking calls and after 8 (eight) pints this fucking idiot clearly thought he could drive, he didnt set out to kill somoene, id imagine no drink driver does as they are not in corntrol of themselves and understand the risks.
He deserves to do a long stretch i think, however he is no worse than any fella who is caught drink driving, anyone one of them could have been this guy, the fact that ppl died as a result of his actions was chance

Yes you could

great laugh there so was it ,
so this fella in Laois does the exact same thing as these ā€œcharcatersā€ in your story, heā€™s unlucky enough to fucking kill somoene, theyā€™re lucky enough not to, in reality they are the exact same
youā€™re some choice prick in fairness

i crashed into a roundabout in 2011 after working 22 hours straight
i have regularly felt myself drifting to sleep on a motorway
i choose to drive
in reality that is worse than drink driving as my mind was fully conscious and not under any influences

Cannot agree with A - having had close family lose children in tragic circumstances, nothing and I mean nothing can come close to the grief that a parent experiences. Ffs, Heaney wrote a poem about it happening to his younger brother - he still remembered every detail all those years later.

As for B and C - yes and yes.

Forgiveness is important - forgive, but never forget. Although, as a previous poster pointed out - the urge to commit revenge would be very strong.
