I used it heading down the last time and found it a bit off - showing checkpoints and breakdowns where there were none. I presume it depends on a mass of users reporting incidents.
Use the app Waze. Like Google maps but shows checkpoints, speed checks etc
All good. I passed 3 on other side and they were gone by time I headed back at 8pm. The one at clareabbey is there 24/7 but easily avoided by going old road after Dromoland. Worth it

Laois RPU patrolling the M8 today observed the driver of an artic truck texting while driving. The vehicle was followed and observed weaving in and out of hard shoulder. The driver did not notice our patrol vehicle with lights and sirens activated behind him. Gardaí had to overtake the heavy goods vehicle to catch drivers attention. Following a Roadside Garda Mobility check the driver was discovered to be serving a 4 year court disqualification. Driver Arrested and charged. Vehicle seized. #ArriveAlive #SaferRoads #GardaMobility #LaoisRPU

I was driving along the M50 earlier in the fast lane.
I noticed a lady driving a BMW car in the lane to my left further on perform two very dangerous manoeuvres. It was as if she realised it was her turn off and made a dash to cross the lanes. This almost resulted in a collision with a cement truck.
Anyway she got to her lane for turning off and as I passed by I noticed nothing really out of the ordinary.
Oh apart from the fact that she was applying her mascara while looking at the mirror in the sun blocker in front of her. I can only assume she was doing this throughout the time she came to my attention.
that should tell you all you need to know. BMWs are to be approached with due care on motorways due to their lack of indicators and the endemic cuntishness of their drivers
