Moving Abroad

Were you ever sexually abused by a priest?

I was not Tossy mate. Were you?

ah here , what type of a greenhorn are you?
never market yourself as “looking for experience”, you’ll be bloody raped especially in IT in SE Asia,
what’s the saying?, you get 52 days vacation a year over there, i.e. 52 Sundays

Singapore:

Pros:

-> First class bus/train system, which is also very cheap. Taxis are plentiful. Changi airport is as efficient as it gets.

-> Good location if you want to travel around south east Asia.

-> Food is very diverse, and the hawkers (local food stalls) are cheap and good if you look around.

-> GAA club is well run, albeit all football.

-> Rains only two months out of twelve. Sunshine the rest of the time.

-> Little to no crime.

-> Little to no tax.

-> Areas like Orchard, Clarke Quay, Harbour Front etc are quite nice.

-> Internet is good, streaming less so.

Cons:

-> Expensive by Asian standards, socialising, groceries, alcohol and property the same as or higher than Ireland. Everything else is cheaper.

->Very little in the way of culture. 95% of the city-state is just HDBs (state flats), condos and shopping malls. Has a huge amount of commercial cinemas…and no independent cinemas.

-> Singaporean accents are horrible, and even though most people grew up speaking English, their grasp on the language - grammar in particular - is shit. Their tone is typically quite rude and aggressive.

-> Times for GAA matches, soccer etc is shit - usually late at night to early in the morning. Championship hurling will be on from 9-1 Sunday night/Monday morning.

-> Singaporeans have little to no personality.

-> Singaporeans are awful drivers.

-> Hours here, in comparison to Europe, are very long.

-> Its a nanny state, endless rules, cameras everywhere etc.

-> Singaporean children are spoiled brats.

If its just for 6 months, might as well come over.

That’s very accurate- my in laws are a mix of Singaporeans and Malaysians and I much prefer visiting Malaysia.

Singaporeans also put Laaa at the end of every sentence and are very direct in their manner which can be disconcerting to those of us of a reserved nature

Very humid out there as well.

There’s no end to the surprises with you it seems.

You do get used to it.

Really? I do try to be as unobtrusive as possible
