He was kicked out of English football as a youngster and came back to Ireland. Then he went to Birmingham and left because of injuries. Quite simple.
Iāll give you McPhail and Duff. Both turned down more money to come back to Ireland for a bit.
Why the hell is Robbie Keane over in India at the moment? He hasnāt no need for the cash. The lifestyle there is terrible. From what McPhail said he didnāt even consider Rovers that much.
Well he has an IRFU international contract so that salary includes his wage/retainer for playing for Ireland. But he would be getting additional match fees, win bonuses, share of any competition winning bonuses etc. Dont know would it come to 100k
The tax relief they get in year of retirement allows for a 40% deduction in income (for tax calculation purposes) for the 14 years prior to retirement. Only allows for income from playing i.e. wages and bonuses. Not commercial spornsorship.
So if a fella earned 5m quid over the 14 years they would be entitled to relief on retirement as if they had only earned (5m less 40%) 3m. So refund of tax on the 2m. Some expenses allowable as well to further reduce liability.
I think there is an upper limit on refund not sure what it is. Its a serious incentive tbf. Somewhat unfair on our Ulster players! Well worth their while moving to cavan
@Gilgamboa on 19/12/2017: Stander offered ā¬840k to move to France. Thanks for the memories CJ. Canāt turn that down.
@Horsebox on 19/12/2017: Christ, donāt be so gullible. Itās basic media management to accentuate his Irishness. āStander turns down ā¬80bn to stay with Munsterā. Heāll be announced as staying by the end of the week.
