Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 1)

Munster released him last season. Cant understand why he wasn’t giving a contract. He played minor hurling and football for tipp. Losing both AI finals that year. He also won a leinster senior Cup with Roscrea. Seriously talent. Munsters loss. Sheedy asked him to join the squad in 2019 but munster wouldn’t allow it

Always assumed those successful Munster team were full of Limerick lads

Also I’m sure you meant to say

Paulie
Flah
The Bull
Wally

Yeah cracking player. Thought def worth a go up in Connacht or somewhere. I’d say never got so much as a minute in first team for Minster did he?

Darragh Sweetnam of Cork was supposed to be a great hurling prospect wasn’t he? Think he may have played against Wexford in the 2012 qualifier in Thurles.

Its not an issue that they are from limerick the issue is the decline of club rugby in limerick. Underage is crippled by schools Cup tieing 40 players each for the junior and senior cups. If you take crescent SMC ASR castletroy your talking 160 players out of the playing pool at under 18.5 and under 16.5. Shannon/st Mary’s have had joint underage teams for years. A few years back you had GSOC at under 16s Garryowen Shannon and Old crescent. YM have avoided it for years bit now are struggling at under 16s and its mainly under 15s playing both age groups.

Compound that with hurling been in vogue. More games less politics and a decent structure for players. It makes an easy choice for young fellas. IRFU and munster branch are to take the blame. Letting the club vs schools fester for so long, allowing schools hoover players to supply 4 schools rather than leave 12 clubs compete at underage. The 25 guys not starting schools don’t get games and the clubs can’t field so no one else gets a game

Similar in 00. Halvey, clohessy, Hayes. Foley wood and Horan all Clare. Wallace you could argue he is a corkman… None of the backs were from lmk

He did. Midfield

Jeremy Staunton was on the panel

No never capped senior. He was looking abroad but nothing came up. Great runner in space and picking lines. Solid under high ball. Left footed kicker gives better kicking options and brilliant place kicker. Hes going to be a massive loss to YM

Biggest sham of a rule of all time

They have allowed a club rep team into the senior Cup last season (but they can’t win it!). They play in the round Robin stage… They were close to the dominant side in it

Claw was murroe and the bull is cappamore

he came on as a sub in an all ireland qf or semi

Again a token gesture, give 40 young fellas out of almost 60 clubs a chance to compete against the 9 schools teams. Its madness. What’s worse is the drop off rate from under 18s to 20s

basically fcuk all limerick men so for 20 years or so

in fairness it a munster team not a limerick team so hardly surprising

Flannery isn’t Limerick?

He’s a Galway cunt.

He was born in Galway. Reared in limerick. David wallace was born in Cobh but more or less reared in Limerick

where is flannery from?

It’s a real pity because the set up of the comps for underage rugby are top class. At u 16 level few years ago when I was involved with a team there was 48 teams. Split geographically first across 8 pools of 6 round Robin format

Then the top 2 in each pool went into a cup comp, next two into a plate, next two into a shield. Another round robin format with 2 pools of 6 and then a knockout comp for top 8 teams in each comp

Our lads got 12 games in the competition and played 3 friendlies. 15 games between October and March. Was a very good format and fair to everyone as you found your level quickly
