I do, pal.
All Munster radio stations to unite on Friday to make touching tribute to Anthony Foley
All Munster radio stations are set to unite on Friday to pay tribute to Anthony Foley.
The funeral of the Irish legend takes place on Friday morning in Killaloe, Clare.
As a sign of respect all the radio stations in Munster are set to come together for a touching tribute.
Thousands gathered in Killaloe today to show their respect for the 42-year-old.
Leinster players Jonny Sexton and Jamie Heaslip joined were among the people gathered as was Irish manager Joe Schmidt.
Anthony Foley died in the Munster team hotel in Paris on Sunday.
I donât think Limerick is ready to say âgoodbyeâ yet
âThereâs no other conversation in Limerick this week, only Anthony Foley,â says the cityâs mayor, Kieran OâHanlan, eyes red, standing on the balcony of his offices, looking out across the sunlit streets.
"Whether youâre a truck driver or a barrister, a baker or a candlestick maker, everyone in this city plays the game. Limerick is all about rugby, and rugby is all about Limerick.
âI remember the day John F Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, and for us in Limerick, weâll always remember the day and the time that we learned of the tragic loss of our beloved Anthony.â
A princess Diana moment for Limerick
I donât think the media have been as hyped about a death since Princess Diana who also died tragically in Paris.
Is Elton John due into Shannon Airport this evening I wonder?
7 clubs?
Limerick City is soccer mad palâŚ
Rugby is dying outâŚclubs canât even play their best 16 years olds due to restraints from the schools/Munster AcademyâŚthat wonât end well.
This will happen and appropriately so.
Goodbye Axel Rose.
Thanks Kev, Iâm flattered by the complementary nature of your post so I wonât call you out on sentence 2 of it.
My point really, which I didnât properly explain previously, is that itâs not contradictory for a supporter to be unhappy with the coaching job a former legendary player is doing with his former team, or to want him to resign in the best interests of the future direction of the team, and yet still consider them to be a legend as a player regardless of their failings as a coach/manager.
Iâm sure there are many examples from different sports of this.
Graeme Souness with Liverpool is one, Diego Maradona with Argentina is another.
Given what happened in Limerick hurling with Justin McCarthy, and indeed the way TJ Ryan has been treated as a joke figure in recent times, as well as the scandalous way Gerald McCarthy was treated in Cork, GAA people in Munster are in no position to criticise the Munster supporter referenced for making what were fairly harmless comments in the general scheme of things. Paidi OâSe was rounded on in Kerry for his âanimalsâ comment, most people in Kerry wanted him gone after 2003, yet you can be sure many of those who vilified him at the time were crying bitter tears after his death.
Limerick will never get over this
The rugby family in Limerick has endured so much over the years, they must be expecting tens of thousands tomorrow at the funeral
Iâm thinking of taking the day off work tomorrow and driving down for it.
There is an Isle
A bonnie Isle
Stands proudly from
Stands proudly from the sea
And dearer far than all this world
Is that dear Isle
Is that dear Isle to me
It is not that alone it stands
Where all around is fresh and fair
But because, it is my native land
And my home, my home is there
But because, it is my native land
And my home, my home is there
Farewell, farewell
Though lands may meet
May meet my gaze
My gaze where eâre I roam
I shall not find
A spot so fair
As that dear Isle
As that dear Isle to me
It is not that alone it stands
Where all around is fresh and fair
But because, it is my native land
And my home, my home is there
But because, it is my native land
And my home, my home is there
Is it moyross
I canât believe the match is going ahead on Saturday. âDoing it for âXââ when they pass away always seems a bit weird to me. This lad was part of their group and playing a game the day after his funeral is terribly strange.
The death has become an event of sorts now too which again I think is weird.
I do think itâs very sad and he seems to have been a top, top bloke but itâs gotten to the point now where the reaction to the death is nearly a bigger deal than the death.
I hate social media.
Munster Aâs game is called off Saturday evening.
If it had been an away game it would have been called off.
Itâs going ahead because there isnât another game scheduled for Thomond Park until November 11th and even then it would be with a largely reserve team shorn of its international players.
At this stage Iâm nearly getting more sick of the people who get annoyed by social media* than by self-gratifying morons on it.
*Iâm getting sick of myself.
