Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 1)

Heā€™s not first choice

Blyendaal is the man now and should have been last season too but for injury but it is painful to watch Keatley out there. Completely out of confidence and wouldā€™ve been dropped long ago in any other team.

Keatley is not coming out of that tailspin. Whatever it is, its done for him. What age is he? He needs to be taken out of the firing line, for his own sake. I wouldnt wish it on any man, but a career ending injury might actually be good for him mentally at this stage.

I have no time for keatly. do not feel sorry for him at all. his attitude has stunk for years. always looking to blane someone else. I fucking hate that.

Munster not having Performance Coach or Psychologist involved for so long was ridiculous

Its astonishing to think Munster did not prioritize no.10. vital to any rugby team, but replacing ROG was always going to beed someone almost better. i know they were broke, but still the money they did use was misplaced.

If the last management team wanted to go back to an old style no.10 should have been the priority. I donā€™t believe for a second they thought he was the man for the job.

Probably the biggest error made was favouring Keatley over Hanrahan. Neither was ideal but one was a young guy with huge scope for improvement. And vitally a good goalkicker, he was top points scorer in pro12 season before he left I think.

When he left they had Bleynedal who didnā€™t come cheap and is rated massively but he arrived injured missed a season and missed all of last season with a different injury. He is a very very good player Iā€™v been watching him since his teens in NZ but he needs to stay injury free.

Johnson the lad from U20 world cup is excellent but again has had serious injury issues with two shoulder ops already.

Johnny Holland looked a very good player when he finally got his run of games injury free last year he is now retired.

So you are right in a way, they should have spent the money but there are not all that many options who would come to Ireland for available money really. Keatley was a stop gap to allow Holland, Hanrahan, Johnson develop then the kiwi came in as additional depth and ultimately they ended up with keatley and keatley alone for pretty much all of last season. There was a lot of bad luck (or poor medical treatement) involved there, apart from Hanrahan which was just rank bad management IMO

Jesus.

Jesus what

Thought he had another 4 or 5 years on him than that. Not even a quiet retirement open to him.

Indeed. He needs to keep working

They won again tonight. Thatā€™s 3 in a row since Anthony Foley passed.

Just saying

Was there, Musgrave packed, Ospreys poor enough but not taking it away from Munster, fine performance

Sweetnam has surpassed all my expectation.

Bleynedal is a joy to watch
