Limerick are the only team who know going into this Sunday’s matches that a win will definitely qualify them. That’ll be the case for them against Clare too should they lose on Sunday.
A win for Clare over Tipp would not definitely qualify them, but in order for them to subsequently fail to qualify, they would need to lose to Limerick and Waterford to win against both Limerick and Cork.
Should Tipp beat Clare, only a three (or more) way tie on 4 points could edge them out. There are a number of different combinations which could provide such a scenario.
Wins for Limerick and Clare would mean that Limerick, Cork and Clare would all qualify with a game to spare.
in the last scenario Cork would be in a munster final and Ennis would be a shootout to see who plays them
That’d be the best outcome for Limerick. Going down to Ennis knowing you’re through but having a bit of an edge to it all the same.
I’d hate to go down there with nothing on it or it to be do or die for both teams. that would be great for the neutral but jaysus it’d be savage hard to get something out of them down there if they knew they could knock us out
I think despite the deserved hype, next weekend will render the final weekend redundant in Munster. By Sunday evening the top 3 will be confirmed as Limerick, Cork and Clare.
