Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2018

Thatā€™s not how Nash and Cork kill you. If anything you want to force him to go short to the full back line. Nash kills teams when he drills 80/90/100 yard puckouts into space for runners. Cutting out the space between your own 45 and the attacking 65 is what has to happen.

Iā€™ll be hitting off around noon. Itā€™ll be a return trip. Just myself and the daughter. The other two women in my life have decided not to travel.

there are so many theories and possibilities and strategies. behind all the talk on here all that matters is what Kiely and Myler see from the line and have the balls to change it if their particular gameplan isnā€™t working.

I think Kiely and Kinnerk are very good at that. Myler, Iā€™d have my doubts

The way I see it. Cork have 2 hard games played, one only 6 days ago. They havenā€™t utilized their bench, would have had a very light week training. Limerick would have had one or two serious in house games in the time off. If itā€™s close with 20 minutes to go I can only see it going one way. Kiely will empty the bench and bring on runners to tired Cork backs.

Itā€™s all about keeping it tight until 20 minutes to go, and Limericks physicality should see them through.

Thatā€™s obviously a high level summary. For more in depth stuff Iā€™ll wait to see what Kiely and Kinnerk have in store for Nashā€™s puckouts, what they with Flanagan. How they stop Fitzgibbon, what way will they deal with Harnedy.

Itā€™ll be also interesting to see if Myler has a plan B to deal with an opposition I think are perfectly suited to play against a running team

People seem to forget the age profile of our team. These lads are mad for running and donā€™t know when they are bate.

What I expect Limerick to do on Nashs puck outs is for Gillane and Mulcahy to split on the full back line, flanagan to drop into the 11 position and use hayes between midfield and the half back line. Hayes is a monster in the air and is brilliant at covering ground. Brynes, Hannon and Morrissey are no easy targets while O Donovan/Lynch and Hayes can dominate their sector of the field too. As Big Mick points out Limerick would rather Nash hit it short and swarm the cork defenders in possession like a high press. The Limerick forwards work rate/tackling is ahead of both Tipp and Clare. If you get Cork clearing the ball under pressure regularly you go a long way to beating them/stopping their forwards.

But do Limerick change their approach slightly to push up?

I mean I think itā€™s totally do-able but managers tend to not liking change tactically too much in gah

@Big_Dan_Campbell made a good point regarding Nashs puck outs. Not sure I agree with him 100% but certainly something to think about. The key is to try and force Cork I to either fighting for their own ball or suffocating them in the middle third. I think Limerick are and need to be capable of tweaking their style. Key to this one for Limerick is the work rate of our forwards without the ball.

Waterford team for Sunday. Not bad considering the injury list. Be interesting to see how we set up. Definitely more attract orientated look about things than weā€™ve seen in a while.

Hes dead right. Nash is the most accurate passer on the cork team. Letting him give the ball to someone far less accurate in the full back line to play it forward makes perfect senseā€¦as long as the defence does its job at the other end

Things very bad if only starting 14

The key is to hassle the defenders on the ball. If they have time to pick a man theyā€™ll do the divil.

Fuck it. Pauric Mahony named in the corner.

The key is to stop the defender playing it 50 or 60 yards to a runner in midfield or the half forward line like Lehane and Meade last season. You have to force them to go long.

Pat Horgan isnt a man to win an 90 yard ball ballooned in on top of him but he is lethal at making little darts and receiving quick ball from midfield onwards. Give Cork time on the ball from the half back onwards they will engineer plenty of scores

Limericks half forward line will be the key to winning this game. Hegarty should be dominant vs Coleman. Hickeys 4 frees vs Tipp will be cut out as well youā€™d assume with M Casey back there as a more natural calmer full back.

If our starting 15 empty the tank completly with hooks, blocks and traditional Limerick physicality weā€™ll win. Finn and English are v sticky, Harnedy etc wont be stood off and admired. Hannon will be allowed sit with Kyle Hayes covering Lehane when he roams out the field.

I think weā€™ve a stronger bench than Cork and when it really opens up in the last 20 mins theyā€™ll do damage, and Limerick will win.

A key aspect to tomorrow night is seeing if Cork subs can make an impact. 3rd week on the go so legs will naturally tire & anyone going off will be a loss. If fresh legs bounce for Cork they should win imo.

What kind of basis do get Casey is the calmer fullback? Has Casey every been selected ahead of richie English at 3 up along? For minor and 21 Iā€™m nearly always sure Casey was in the corner. As far as I can see Casey has his reputation as a three on marking con o Callaghan in the bog in the club championship. I personally always felt Casey wasnā€™t quick or good enough on the ball for intercounty hurling in the corner so can see why they moved him to three. Iā€™d have massive reservations about our fullback line tomorrow. Cork will look to exploit this over and over again. I hope Casey has a stormer but itā€™s such an inexperienced line at this level itā€™s very hard to expect too much. I doubt finn, Casey and English have stated a combined 20 games in championship for limerick.
