They are easily the closest to stopping Limerick imho. They are improving incrementally. Leen is a big addition. At this level, its all about the big moments. Limerick executed whereas Clare did not.
They boxed on bravely when easier to throw in the towell. They are closer to winning an all ireland of all contenders.
It’s all conjecture now. Lets revisit at the end of the year.
They are light years better than ‘average’

Rodger’s has it but that miss was inexcusable.
McCarty doesn’t have it and had another meltdown today, got a point from play when the goal was on in the second half off his stronger side. He’s mentally weak when challenged. His missed frees & the goals were the game.
Lohan is game but not ready and the keeper is not elite either.
They are basically playing with 11/12 players who are good enough to win an all Ireland.
There tactics are generally aggressive imo, like if McCarty gets that goal in the first half you can justify their long back tactic.

They don’t have an elite goalie, are always firefighting in the full back line ( Leen was brilliant today to be fair) and have an ability to shoot themselves in the foot at any stage.
They missed 4 scorable frees at least today, 2x guilt edged goal chances, were beaten in most position’s and yet stayed in the game on the scoreboard which is a testament to their character, of which there is no question.

Its 11/12 more than most counties.
Average in the Liam McCarthy is Cork, Kilkenny, Waterford, Galway, Clare
All those teams would have many players good enough to win in all
And there it is
Clare didn’t play their best game today v Limerick. I have often seen them better and still come up short. They will be sick about that but it’s no harm either if they can use it to bring them on and they get to face Limerick again.
Limerick are strange at the moment. They were miles the better team today and v Waterford and left the opposition hanging on in there. It’s like when they need to pull away they can and just up it for a spell and rack up 5 or 6 quick scores. I suppose that’s the greatness of them at present. Plus they always have a few different lads to come up trumps for them. It’s like KK back in the day with that great team. It’s never the same few that digs it out.

That’s not true.
To win an all ireland you need players that are at the level of Limerick. Clare have more players of that level than any other county imho. It’s the reason they have pushed them the most.
You have to be judged on knock out hurling

Couldnt see Cork beating Limerick tbh, they’ll be chewed up in around the centre.
Cant see this Clare side beating KK either.
Could Wexford turn over Clare?
The jury is still out. Conceeding massive scores. Forwards doing well but will that workrate and intensity be able to step up to the levels required for an all ireland semi and final?
Really? Im not sure many of the Limerick supporters would agree with that. Straight to semi is another reason to win Munster, besides from the very obvious.
