Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2024…part 2

Skill acquisition and I think is responsible for unwrapping the emerald caramels in the car and placing them in Davy’s gob.

The auld fella said it was as bad a day as he’s had in the stadium, but he travelled up with very little hope anyway.

On the plus side, he got to bump into his auld pal the great Brian Murphy, a fella whose honours list in Gaelic Games will never be surpassed. He said that was the highlight of the day

Whatever Cork did to Wexford I don’t know, I really never think about them at all. You’re very sour over something anyway.

Didn’t look to be a massive difference. Five yards maybe which wouldn’t make or break it for Rodgers. It was one that should be scored either way. Not like he moved in ten yards from the sideline.

The general consensus on the square beforehand was that we’d be back on the square by the time the full time whistle blew and so it proved.

The Cork lads are sound though.

I think sometimes the Cork crowd’s soundness is overplayed or mythologised, but by God, it was evident today. I had to walk back across town back towards the road out to Two-Mile-Borris as I was hitting back that way and there wasn’t a bad word said towards Tipp supporters. No slagging or rubbing our faces in it. Maybe it was sympathy but I’ll go with a bit of classiness instead of it.

I’m sure it would have been scored anyway but can understand the frustration after what preceeded it.

There’s a total disconnect is correct, we are generally very harsh on ourselves in relation to our hurling but it’s probably gone to the stage where instead of driving excellence it’s driving more and more contempt.

Many “supporters” watch the match in the pub rather than go down to the stadium and shout on the team.

Fair enough if wasn’t the same routine Davy pulled in every second game he loses

Great days entertainment.

A few random thoughts in no particular order.

Waterford were excellent. They are a very good side. They’ll give Limerick loads of it next week. This team has spirit and will keep going, as they did today when 8 point down and looking at a shellacking. Really should have grabbed something g from that game. Usual issues in the full back line done for them, Prunty a colossal loss.

Shane O’Donnell won it for them again. As intelligent a player who ever played the game.

He’s attempting to be all gracious post match but Davy is as poisonous an individual to ever be involved with any team, in any sport. He should get a 12 month ban for the way he harangued Gordon at the end but he won’t. He should have got a 12 month ban for the Jason Forde incident a few years back. All his cheerleaders will be out saying “oh, it’s heat of the moment, he cares so much, it shows his passion.’ No, it just shows he’s a mouth and a cunt.

The umpire doesn’t have a notion at the end. He’s clearly talking to the ref who makes the decision to award the ‘65. Pure guess work but it was the correct decision. There was definitely a minute or two more to be played, but who is to say Clare could have grabbed the next two or three scores. Waterford had 76 mins to win it.

As bad a Tipp senior hurling team as I’ve ever seen. They’ve next to nothing. Rather than slate Cahill, he actually worked a miracle to get them out of Munster last year. He’ll hardly survive this humiliation but not sure anyone else could do better. They’ll be running off another round of the Miller Shield by the August Bank Holiday. Clare will take them for another double digit defeat next week.

The only thing worse than the Tipp team is their support. Absolutely pitiful.

Clare’s Sean Stack couldn’t give the pen and black card quick enough last week (correct decision) but he chickened out of an even more blatant one today, when Walsh went to him for his opinion. He (Stack) is not a good ref IMO, and this will become more apparent with the more high profile games he gets.

3-28 and 4-30 is unreal scoring in 8 days. Cork look the team to beat. If Limerick are knocked out next week I’d have them as favourites to win it out.

Despite the whinging from Richie Hogan and co, the Leinster championship is absolutely woeful. Barring a minor miracle it’ll be an all Munster AI final, whoever that turns out to be.

Limerick - Waterford should be a dinger. It’ll be every bit as nervy & tight as the Cork game last year.

My biggest gripe with that black card penalty rule is there is next to no consistency with it. Its vague bullshit applied differently depending on the ref

I took the liberty of looking up the rulebook as nobody seems to know the rules. Is it Rule 4.25 that covers this?

There’s a total respect there between Tipp and Cork. Everyone at ease in each others company.

I’m forever trying to educate lads on here on the actual rules of the game.

It’s gas how they snigger at how nobody purportedly knows the rules of rugby. Steal an advantage on a placed ball and it should be a throw in.

Like, the one today - Kehoe was in one on one with the goalkeeper when he was taken down.

It was as stonewall as you’ll ever see. Not that it would have made a jot of difference today - Cork would have only won by 15 points - but a contentious decision like today could decide an AI final.

How on earth has Cora Staunton slipped into a high profile pundit role. She’s hopeless. Zero insight.

Cork went to the Venue.

Tipp to the Maginer shack?

Great friends back in the day. Don’t get to see each other often these days (funerals etc.) so he was delighted to see him today. What a fucking record. He was always the most unassuming fella according to the auld lad.

Working in the centre I’d imagine.
