Harnedy? By far more influential from a cork perspective imo. He sets the tone for others to follow.

He’s the leader
Gillane is always a threat and I think he’s been decent so far but we haven’t got the most out of him yet, because we haven’t been at our top form. He got 2 goals against Clare but got too involved with Cleary, was a big threat against Tipp and was decent the last day but didn’t get enough ball.
Over the course of the three games, Kyle & Hegarty have been Limerick’s best players by a fair distance. Obviously plenty of hurling still to do and most have been decent in patches.
Hegarty was quiet for long periods in games too tbf before making big plays.
Kyle was immense v Cork.
Spot on - Hegarty is making massive plays and Hayes superb v Cork
I’m not being critical of Gillane, he’s doing his job (bar playing into Cleary’s hands). When you play as an inside forward, you have to be patient and we haven’t been giving him the type of service we gave him last year. That’s on the rest of the team more than him.
But he’s obviously had much less of an impact on games this year than Connolly, Fitzgibbon, SOD, etc.
Kyle had been limericks most consistent player so far this year. Limerick not firing on all cylinders yet. Remains to be seen if they can do that. Miles clocking up and it’s beginning to show
If limerick do win the AI then Hegarty, Hayes, Gillane and Quaid are probably the ones playing wellish at the moment, if they up it in Croke Park they would be in the reckoning, in Fairness Nicky has pulled off some great saves so far against Clare and Cork so has credit in the bank already…
That attendance example sums up the theory that there are no rhyme or reason to GAA attendances. It’s all about intangibles like bandwagons. momentum and hype and football have done a horrible job of talking themselves down over a long number of years while munster hurling has done the opposite.
No it’s literally about the horrific football format which you claimed is fine.
At the match, I thought it was bizarre that Barrett wasn’t taken off when his leg was clearly gone. He pulled up lame and let his man off to get an easy point. Medics came on and looked at it. Very next ball, he fell over as he tried to get to it. Connolly got it instead, went on to score game’s crucial goal and Barrett was then taken off with match gone.
Please gawd it’s a draw
Kyle Hayes played Cork on his own and nearly bate the bastards.
An aul scratchy draw of 1-18 a piece would be ideal.
Just for the melt down it would cause.
My auld fella, a man that would be a fan of Barrett, said at half time they needed to take him off lively. He was getting roasted. He then gets injured and as you rightly said, he was then caught about a minute later.
It’s a criticism I have about this management. They seem very slow to take off injured players. Gearoid O’Connor was going around in a daze last year against Waterford and they left him on for another 5-10 minutes. It’s negligent. I’m not sure is it their own stubborness or poor medical advice.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Barrett’s last Tipp appearance, assuming he isn’t fit for Clare. I think the legs are gone a bit. He seems to have got a few hamstring injuries over the years and they take their toll
He was very good the previous week against Waterford. You cant be writing players off, off the back of one performance. Admittedly corner backs probably have a shorter shelf life than most other players due to nature of the game. if there is a perceived vulnerability there teams will target it. Paul Murphy was a great corner back for Kilkenny. He might have been only 30 when he retired. Barrett is one of the greatest corner backs of our generation but he has very little to no hurling done this year. There will be a few fallow years for Tipp. He owes us nothing and no one could blame him if he does decide to go. Watching last night it was uncanny the similarities between the Tipp minor full back and Barrett. Same club, same first name, same colour helmet, same gatch. Hes going to be a good one.
Fair points Johnny. He’s had a fairly hampered season alright. And you’re right - he was quite good v Waterford.
Sunday’s game v Clare not even on GAA GO
It’s a recurring theme with Cahill and Bevans playing injured players. Did the same in Waterford. It’s like they don’t trust medical advice.
