Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2024…part 2

I would think there’s a bit of thickness there alright

Iarla Daly against us two years ago I think? Did his ankle and they left him on.

Tadhg Burke in Cahill’s last game

They’d fit in well as posters here.

That’s a recurring team of the round robin. I’d say the painkiller use is gone out of control.

Interesting looking at the form of the all Ireland series last year the teams Limerick steam rolled in Galway and Kilkenny don’t look much good this year.

Tipp who lost to Galway are the worst in Munster and Clare who should have won v Kilkenny are probably a decent barometer.

It’s likely last years Munster championship was a more relevant assessment of Limerick than the all Ireland series.

Hard man old school psychology.

It dinnae work with adults.

Interesting observation.

I do wonder are Limerick as well if playing Kyle hayes at 6 under the puck outs. At least you know they won’t be hit centrally.

Nobody is going to hit them down on top off him again after corks success.

Be a massive call to drop Hannon, they’d probably have needed to see Hayes at 6 earlier in the year to make that change now.

They need to figure out a way of getting Kyle into the game more anyway.

I was an advocate of him being put at 11. He’s a huge miss there. He isn’t in the game enough at half back for me.

It’s more the breaking ball that is a concern than the dropping ball itself (okay, Kyle probably would have dealt better with a couple of them).

But people have already mentioned that we are lacking a bit of pace in terms of taking defenders on, Kyle is almost our only attacking outlet in that sense. If you put him at 6, he basically has no opportunity to run at the defence because he’ll have to mind the house.

As you say, if we weren’t under so much pressure in the backline, he’d almost certainly be at 11.

Feel Limerick aren’t getting the best out of Cathal O Neill this year, and vice versa.

Wouldn’t be shocked if we end up with a CON 7, Hayes 6, Byrnes 7 half backline

Hayes at 6 means he will be involved in every long puckout going forward.

Cian Lynch was very poor against Cork in the first half at 11. He’s just not winning puckouts anymore and his legs are not what they were a few years ago.

A few years ago you’d have backed him to give Rob Downey a torrid time. With Tom going poor as well surgery may be needed to this line of field also.

I wouldn’t be dropping Hannon as a result of Byrnes’ poor form.

CON should be closer to the oppositions goal rather than his own.
If there’s an issue in the half back line WOD should go back there.
The telling issue is that we have being carrying two half backs on the side line and when the chips are down neither are trusted.

O Neill isn’t the quickest. I’d say his future is at six or at half back at least.

Byrnes was dropped after the cork defeat in 2019 If I recall correctly before we hammered Waterford.

I’d say kiely will be loyal. He’ll give the team v cork another chance.

Dod in time maybe for o Neill and restore our usual midfield. Wod wont be going near the backs as long dod is out.

You’d have o Neill and English coming as impact subs which are roles they’ve excelled in over the years.

Why was there 16k at the knock out match in 2016 so? Between two of the teams who regularly sell matches out in a round robin
